There's away one kill joy where ever you go, this one would always question my speed. Yes i have a fast car doesn't mean i speed (well not all the time ). Just found out why he was missing this morning.

He was at speed awarness after being done for 36 in a 30 :upside: and theres me never had more than a warning

is that like a speed workshop?? IE where you get the option of avoiding the three points by attending this speed awareness class?

If so....watch out he'll be given a free copy of the highway code.......and yes they do tell you that speeding is very very bad!! (but then again they also tell you that camera's are NOT speed traps!! hmmmmmmm?? questionable no doubt!) :rtfm:

He was there for the morning. Was told that speeding is bad .... no shit!

If traveling at 30 and you have 10m to stop you'll hit something at 11 mph, traveling at 35 you'll hit it at 21mph. And the best bit only 10% of the camera's in the thames valley have film :)

said it was like an AA meeting " hello my names ....... and i was caught doing 36 in a 30. One guy was caught on a camera 200meters from his house :)

These figures, and those quoted in the highway code, annoy me - what car are they based on? What tyres? What brake kit is on it? What road surface? Who was tested for the reaction time? Etc.....

If an A reg Montego that's never been serviced tries to stop I suspect it will take a little bit longer than a Radical.....

Arn't those figures nearly 50 years old now?? Think they were compiled in the early 60's some time.

I think the speed awarness course is only available in certain areas. How_supra was done in Northampton if memory serves. Is Hemel under Thames Valley police??

I believe it was first piloted in Northampton (The speed camera capital of the UK I was told! [also told it was the 5th worst place to drive in the country!]).

Anyway I attended a workshop back in October 2002. I guess it's moving to the rest of the Thames Valley area now!!!!

They only offer it to you, if you're in a pre-selected area, where the limit is 30mph, if you are caught doing exactly 36 or 37 mph. Its to do with the whole 30mph you can live vs 40mph you won't theory.

Actually rather scarily half of the attendees when I went were over 60 years old, and thought national speed limit meant delimited still.
