Wiring Question

Steve

Recommended Posts

I am trying o find a cable in the dash, to trigger a relay that will start to charge a second battery in the boot. But i only want it to switch over once the engine is started, so am looking for a feed that becomes live once the engine is started not when the ignition is turned on to the first/second position.

The obvious choice would be the back of the alternator i presume, but there must be a wire in the dash somewhere that does the same? Maybe by the ECU?

Also where can i power 3 new gauges from? They only pull around 50ma each when lit up. Was thinking of coming off the back of the ignition barrel and fitting a seperate inline fuse.

Thanks in advance.

If its just to activate a relay then you could use the FPC output if you are using a powerfc as it sends out a 12v signal to the fuel pump ecu when an RPM is achieved. Please note though this is not the 12v feed which the fuel pump use. It is just an activation signal to switch over the pole in the Fuel pump ecu. B+ is the supplied 12v feed for the FP.

But if you dont get the Powerfc Steve then a HS drive can be activated from the Link ecu when it see's an rpm signal.

The radio is a good one but take the power after the fuse which protects the radio.
