Charlotte
When did MPs' salary come into the argument? It's hiding their allowance spending that's the issue. Post 10.
SupraAyf
Ahhhhhhhh, the NHS topic eh! The NHS was raised from the ashes in the 50's to create an emergency health system for all. Last year alone, a couple of thousand woman received breast enlargements on the NHS as it was thought that they would be mentally affected if they were to bear the misery of living with small jellies? There is also the plastic surgery ops supplied via the NHS for similar issues to those of the booby jobs mentioned above. .......................so can someone define why the above ops are categorised as emergencies? Finally, what do people want from this fine nation of ours. Do some of you seriously expect the likes of the PM to live in a 3-bed council house? Do us all a favour and f@ck off to China or Russia where the lifestyle may favour you better. P.S. The 'Speaker' issue is a valid one if Geneb is not taking the mick like in his last polish-thread:rolleyes:
Ark
Nobody expects our nations leaders to live in council houses, we just want to see an end to joke expenses like John Prescotts re-decorations including £1000-per-roll wallpaper, and the previously mentioned £30,000 for "art", and the ability to claim expenses of up to £250 without a receipt. Once upon a time, being an MP was something done for the good of the country, by the wealthy, because the wealthy were the people who could afford the time not working. By having the country run by the independently wealthy, we instantly got away from the modern idea of career politicians who promise anything to garner popularity. OK OK, I know that in the past, political leaders weren't in it for entirely altruistic reason, but at least it didn't look like dirty money-grubbing by people to shiftless to do a proper days work. Really? I'd assumed they were always corrupt, power crazed people out for personal gain.
Max Headroom
Ha Ha very funny, had a real good laugh at it. You really are getting so good at these wind ups and sucking people in
RedM
Really? I'd assumed they were always corrupt, power crazed people out for personal gain. I agree. Anyone who actively pursues a position of power shouldn't be allowed to be in a position of power. I resign!

I prefer the '3 little pigs' and 'goldie locks' but I could read your story to my 7-yeard old when we run out of ideas:D
ivan
Post 10. Nope, can't see it myself. Lets forget about the speaker of the house, what about the PM, do you think the money that keeps his house is wasted? Do you think the PM should live in a 1 bed flat in the centre of London? That would be nice when the President of the US comes over. There are people in this country who occupy jobs of great importance, to see them living in squalour is rediculous! You are obviously out to kick up a stink with such a post without fully thinking through the consequences of what you are saying. If you really want to save money for "the good of the nation" there are better ways!

The words 'salary weren't in there but where he lives was and of course that would lead to how much he gets paid (that's what I'm telling myself because I posted about his salary) . It certainly wasn't talking about hiding their allowance spending.
