merckx
Whether or not you can polish it out is dependent on the material and finish on the lip of the wheel.
jazz1
can normal car machine polish do the job?

AdzC
http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Quixx_Scratch_Remover_.html this any good? Jazz i've used this product a while ago on my bumper. It's quite good and depending on the depth of the scratch should remove it. I would only try it if your wheel is painted though.
Tricky-Ricky
how deep is it and are your wheels laquered ? That would definitely help with selecting a solution.
Ian C
Why would anyone deliberately scratch the dish of an alloy when there is all that paintwork in much easier reach Just wondering.
absz
I bet there was grit in the sponge when you last washed the wheels:innocent: i have done the same thing leaving a deep scratch in one of my wheels:(
jazz1
no its done deliberatly its a key scratch and i know its the people who i had my alarm fitted done it. The reason i say that is when i had my alarm fitted i complained about them not fitting what we agreed etc and also about a chip on the side skirt that was left. It was only until i got my car back a week later after they fixed my problems i noticed the scratch on the alloy. The reason why they probably done it on there because not everyone would think someone would scratch an alloy:rolleyes:

Tricky-Ricky
Are the alloys lacquered? if not you can just use progressively finer grades of wet n dry, and then finish with solvol, if there lacquered then patch spraying them is going to be a pain. Dnk
Anodised? If there anodised then the scratch will be through the surface as its very thin 002" if i remember right, possibly less
merckx
If there anodised then the scratch will be through the surface as its very thin 002" if i remember right, possibly less I only had a light scratch in my anodised lip. I wish I hadn't even attempted to polish it out,the result is a little dull patch.
