Matt Harwood
My Japanese isn't too good. Has anybody installed HKS guages and willing to share the wiring colour information? I have a boost guage with 8 bloody wires, I know which is earth, (wahoo!) and two of the blues are joined, so I'm down to 6 unidentified wires. - Ignition live, constant live, illumination, earth. Which is which and what do the other 4 do? I also have an EGT guage.... I havn't even bothered to look at what wires are there yet... Help on both/either would be gratefully recieved. MONKEYmark
hi matt i have just fitted about 2months ago,i got hks 60mm electronic boost and egt gauge i got an online instructions as they were in jap.i have never done any wiring before and it was straight forward, my dad showld me how to test if its a live or earth, took my time and it worked first time.i used ashtray light for my lighting of the gauges. here is the wiring diagram i used, should be same if it is a new gauge. i got the link from http://www.suprastore.com in the electronic section. below is instructions for electronic versions the manual one should be easy INSTALLATION 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. 2. Examine the engine compartment to determine a good source of manifold pressure such as: A. OEM (factory) fuel pressure regulator B. Engine surge tank 3. Cut the factory hose and install the tee fitting. Use the 4mm hose supplied with this kit to connect the pressure sensor to the tee fitting. Install the 4mm air filter between the tee fitting and the pressure sensor as shown in figure 1. 4. Mount the pressure sensor utilizing the bracket and hardware in this kit. Make sure the sensor is installed with the port pointing down. An improperly installed sensor will not function correctly. 5. Plug the pressure sensor harness into the pressure sensor. Run the pressure sensor harness through the firewall to the area where the meter will be installed. Connect the pressure sensor harness to the meter harness and plug the meter harness into the meter- see figure 1. 6. Connect the power harness to the meter harness and using the splice connectors in this kit, connect the colored wires as follows: A. The black wire connects to a chassis ground B. The red wire connects to a 12-volt ignition power source C. The orange wire connects to a constant 12-volt power source D. The yellow wire connects to an illumination source (parking lamp, etc.) E. The brown wire can be connected to an optional warning signal output (piezo buzzer or warning monitor)- see figure 2. F. The blue wire is used for simultaneous playback mode (see page 3). G. The purple wire connects to an optional data-logging system (not currently available) 7. Use tie wraps to secure any loose wires. 8. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery. here is the hks link for instructions a real good web page http://www.racecarnewmedia.com/hks/installation.htm hope it helps mark
