Richie 400TT
Hi Guys,.... Wonder if anyone can shed some light on a problem im having at the moment. Whifbitz fitted full BPU to my supra just over a year ago, and all has been good but i have just got back off holiday and the battery was flat and now i have replaced the battery the car seems to be boosting to well over the 1.2 bar it was set at! It has a Greedey profec b boost controller! Is there a memory for the settings that may have been cleared? Does anyone have a guide on how to set the boost as i didnt get the instruction manual from Whifbitz? Thanx
Swampy442
Is it a B or a spec 2? Profec b's have dials on the front for low and high boost, with a selector switch, spec 2's are digital. Maybe you have it in high as opposed to low setting? Ive got an instruction manual on my pc for the B if you want one, just send your email and Ill fire it through for you
Richie 400TT
Its the digital boost controller, doesnt matter if i set it in LOW or High it still boost of the scale! Fun tho but will def be running lean.... [email protected]
Swampy442
What was the boost before? Do you have a restrictor ring?
Richie 400TT
Low boost was 0.9 and high 1.2 with a restrictor ring!

Thanx in theory the boost controller wont set the boost at anything, im affraid its the crude restrictor ring method that going to limit your boost, all the controller does is allow it to increase boost on the fly you cant limit or reduce boost with it! Although saying that, maybe it can if you battery was pulled out then I guess your boost controller memory setting would have been erased as well so not sure Can we have some more details on the car ie double decat, stock twins or hybrids etc etc mine did the same so resorted to putting the 1st cat back in
Richie 400TT
Its a double decat on stock twins. just seems a bit funny that its run sound for 8,000miles and now its over boosting!
Swampy442
As mikey says you cant lower the boost below the baseline figure. Erm, check the hoses to and from the boost controller solenoid, then the next thing is the restrictor ring I would suggest. If it was working fine before and now isnt, somethings bust lol
tbourner
Sounds like unplugging the battery has reset your restrictor ring to a full size opening!!

GazB
cant work out if your being serious or not The restrictor ring is a metal object, mechanically it can be physically changed. Electronically i don’t you would be able to change it.
damientt
I have a Profec B on my TT and in colder weather it will overboost (the Profec's display flashes red and it beeps). The high/low settings are easily changed. PM me with your mail address and I'll send you the manual as a PDF.

tbourner
No I was joking, although that is actually what seems to have happened!! It can't be the boost controller reset surely, cos it's default settings wouldn't be stupid-high boost mode!! Would they? If low boost before was 0.9 then the RR must be set to that or lower? And the BC ups it to high boost settings? Maybe the loss of power changed the settings somehow on the BC, seems odd though. GazB
I would suggest getting the boost controller checked, perhaps speak to Whifbitz and ask if anybody else as been having troubled with the Greedey profec b boost controller. You may find it's a common fault when the main power source is changed.
