Pete
If you were to buy a CF bonnet that relied on pins to secure it, surely this is a major security risk? I've not seen 'locakable' pins. Also - I can't imagine your insurance being too happy about it for this reason either.
lust2luv
Don't they supplement the bonnet catch, rather than replace it?
Supragal
Yup AFAIK. The catch bit on aftermarket bonnets isn't strong enough to resist the upforce of wind on it's own so the pins just keep it shut and look flash.
Pete
There was a bonnet for sale on the board without the usual catch - which is what got me thinking about this. I take it this isn't the norm then?
Faye Brother
RoGuE I got my flush fitting bonnet locks from here: http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?c=GRAYBONLK I specifically wanted a lockable set from a security perspective and also to stop the c/f bonnet from flapping around at speed. As they're flush fitting it also means that in the event of a pedestrian colliding with me they wouldn't get torn to shreds.
SkyJawa
Mine still has the catch, but relies on the pins to keep it down at warp speed
Faye
I'm pretty sure you can get lockable pins, I think my brother got some for his CF bonnet. If I remember rightly they sit flush with the bonnet too - which makes them look prettier than the normal pins in my opinion. As SG says you will need to fit something though as I know at about 70-80 mph my brothers CF bonnet lifted enough for the "open door" light to come on - he never fitted the pins because of it being about a 3-4 hour job and is now selling bonnet because it wasn't much lighter than the stock one which fitted perfectly.
