Darren-K
Has anyone insalled this yet ? ive been running it a couple of weeks now and i like it - its much more streamlined than IE7,aNnd more logical its kind of like Vista explorer It does show up some faults on some websites tho,but just in case you cant live with IE8 theres a button at the top that says "Emulate IE7" Also in the Url bar it highlights the actual domain name and has many options much akin to Firefox like "developer tools" etc Obviously its probably only available to registered users http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/internet_explorer_8_has_arrived.php
RedM
First version to pass the Acid2 test too. Firefox doesn't. That still won't get me to use it.
Darren-K
when you select "full screen" its realy nice too,the url bar at the top fades upwards and is animated nicely then just leaves you with the website your on totaly filling the screen, the url bar returns as the mouse gets close to the top,im discovering more stuff with it each day and you can flip left to right and vice versa,.. its mad as you can flip your and everyones profile name etc from the left to the right, pretty neat. Also i just discovered onscreen translation,. on the fly it recreated this entire site into Arabic for me
Wez
I recall reading somewhere the MS were forced to add in an option to allow you to switch from MS mode to internet standards mode Its supposed to be much better than IE7 which to be honest is not difficult as its pants. Pete
It's causing quite a stir in the web design community to do with how adopts version targeting : http://www.alistapart.com/issues/253 In all, I think it's a good thing though. I just hope it sticks to CSS3 standards properly this time around. Some of our sites are becoming horrifically complex to support all browsers. As an aside did anyone catch the sneaky way Apple have launched Safari onto thousands of PCs this wee? If you have Quicktime or iTunes installed it'll automatically ask you to install it. That's an easy fix.

Pete
I'm not touching a Beta1 with a barge pole. Probably not Beta2 either. You know what MS are like, they'll turn round and change their mind about half the features before release or something.

imi
My Laptop was crashing on a regular bases, and the cursor was also all over the place so I decided to uninstall this and go back to IE7 - which is working fine. Has anyone tried WinXP SP3 yet? Seems to work OK.
Darren-K
Hi Imi, yes im riunning SP3,no problems so far ,seems cool, not noticed ANY aesthetic differences, however everything seems around 10% faster.
Thorin
First version to pass the Acid2 test too. Firefox doesn't. That still won't get me to use it. Acid2? Pffft, Acid3 is where it's at now Firefox 3.0 beta 5 is out now http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html Or you can grab the latest nightly http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ Very stable and has been for some time now, they'll be starting on the release candidates soon, final build expected end of next month I think. edit: if you are going to try firefox 3 then make sure you back up your profile folder as you won't be able to go back to fx2 if you use the same profile. I'd recommend starting from a new profile anyway and just importing your bookmarks over.

Todd
Not an IE explorer fan and been using FF for a while now but damn IE8 is fast, a lot faster load times for pages than I get with FF!
