Stupid drivers

hogmaw

Recommended Posts

OK just a mild rant to get things off my chest. Feel free to add to the list:

1 - drivers who slow down when they approach SPECS cameras, only to speed up again when they have passed

2 - the ones who happily sit in a traffic jam all afternoon, instead of using the bus lane which is totally empty and is clearly signposted as being in force only from 7am-10am

3 - middle lane hoggers (a national pastime)

4 - women

I can add a couple just from my drive home this evening :

People who slow down when a car is coming from the other way in the dark.

People who brake for no reason what so ever

People who sit at 47 mph in national speed limits and then accelerate when you overtake

People who sit at 47 mph in national speed limits and continue to do 47 mph in 30 and 40zones.

People who just can't sit at any speed at all and keep varying it

People who overtake you on the motorway when you are doing 82 mph only for you to stay at the same speed and you overtake them about 3 miles up the road and you keep repeating the process for 30 miles

and last but not least people who brake on the motorway

Hate people who do that! Especially when I get looks of "what are you playing at - you've overtaken me 5 times now!". All I know is that cruise control is on, so it's not my fault :D

I also dislike Scoobys who try and encourage me into putting my foot down when I'm doing 50 in a 50 limit with a speed camera 1/4 mile up the road

Well, it bugs me too, but occasionally I do like to feel the force of acceleration, and then drop back down to a cruising speed of 60 - 70, so that makes me guilty too :)

That's a different ball game ;) Especially without a well marked cash machine just up ahead :D

3 - middle lane hoggers (a national pastime)

That's my main grief, as someone who does 100 miles a day commuting, I see plenty of them every day, only we can't bitch about them, as that'd make us look like mental petrolheads who'd run over naked babies...

From my experience (Which is pretty expansive due to the motorway mileage I do)... The majority of people in the middle lane are the elderly (50+), mixed with housewifes over 35, all clinging onto the steering wheel for dear life...

The Highway Code states :

You should always drive in the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear. If you are overtaking a number of slower-moving vehicles, you should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you are safely past. Slow-moving or speed-restricted vehicles should always remain in the left-hand lane of the carriageway unless overtaking. You MUST NOT drive on the hard shoulder except in an emergency or if directed to do so by the police, HA traffic officers in uniform or by signs.

2 Points...

1) Why are these people not being prosecuted?...

2) Why do the people stopping on hard shoulders as their junction is full not face prosecution?... (Anyone living near Chelt/Glos know what I'm on about...)

1. Drivers in front of you who brake/come to a complete stop entering a roundabout, when there is clearly nothing coming from the right.

2. Drivers in front of you who brake/come to a complete stop on a slip road entering another road when the coast is clear.

3. Drivers who don't know how to use mini roundabouts and just sit there when they have right of way.

I like speeding up and goading them into overtaking me just as I slow for the camera. :D

I think he trying that with me. I'd overtaken him as he'd been doing about 40, he then tailgated me all the way to the camera before backing off  only to blast past me shortly afterwards. I left him to race off with a 205 GTI as there were 3 of us in the car :D

i think the motorway should be like germany however its always 2 lanes (sometimes 3 for a short distance) but there is hardly any traffic jams ever
Germany got LOADS of traffic jams, tons of it in fact. But they are the best drivers that i have come across from a lorry drivers point of view, only not in the UK.
