It seemed to be the cause on all but one of the other failures... when it was originaly mapped, he put a rev limiter on a switch at 4k, but something was wrong as it was just popping and banging all the time, when lifting off throttle, i think that was the problem, it was very embarising just going down the shops scaring everyone and me This is the journal bearing or the BB R version? Chris Wilson
Looks like a diesel turbo to me. Not designed for the heat of a petrol engine, let alone a modded one. Test book heat damage, the tips get near white hot and centrifuge off molten material. If they were made of a suitable material for the temps and speed involved they wouldn't. I bet it's not a genuine Garrett?
Rich
have you been using 2 step launch control?

I bet it's not a genuine Garrett? i would agree on 3 counts, 1st heat damage, 2nd non genuine, and the 3rd count is the ex trader that supplied and fitted it:rolleyes: have you been using 2 step launch control? rev limiter and bad mapping mate
Sean1933
Yep thats the damage i was refering to . I hope the one i have fitted doesnt go the same way, however that came from precision and has GARRETT in big letters on the coldside and a Garrett badge on the actual cartride...so i should be ok i hope! Gaz, you shouldnt of chucked the whole lot though, could have sold the coldside and hotside on here or ebay! Maybe even the whole cartridge to someone who who fancies a project jet engine or something! (i read on here somewhere that someone did it )
