SupraAyf
We got the help of a guy at the start of our house renovation (3-months ago) and the fella was a bloody cowboy. I am really not sure what (if anything) he knew about roofs and building but I sent him packing. I get the impression from looking around that there are more sub-standard tradesmen than good ones:rolleyes:

Ewen
Yes, we have. The storm of '87 (Charlotte was seven in case there are still some on here that didnt know that:)) bought a few roof tiles down, bottom row next to the gutters. A chap rang our doorbell out of the blue and offered to fix them for £50. I was the one who answered the door, and I said no thanks as I didnt like the look of him. Anyhoo, the guy came back a few days later when I was at work and without even knocking on the door, started replacing the three missing tiles. When my wife asked what the hell was going on, he told my wife Id rung him back as Id 'changed my mind'. When he was done he wanted £300 quid off her... My wife rang me, I left work right then and steamed over there. It was not pleasant, the tiles were done, but were totally miss-matched....big blarney but ended with them revving up and bombing off at the threat of police involvement.
