ben_stevo
I have a 1994 NA supra and I have a few questions/problems which need sorting if anyone can help? 1. I am in the process of looking to buy an induction kit for the car but I have noticed that just before the airbox there is what looks to me like some sort of air sensor, when I buy an induction kit where does this sensor go? Does it need to be plugged into the air intake? An easy solution would be to just buy a panel filter but I have a few induction kits sat in my garage from old cars which I would like to give a try 1st. 2. The light in the centre of the instrument panel which is a red box with ! in the middle last week started to stay on constantly along with the red warning light that shows a door is open even when all doors are shut. The buttons in the door shuts which are on the door catch both still work as when you push them in the interior light goes off, so what can this be? any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

kieren1234
2. You need to check for error codes by putting a paper clip into the diagnotic port in the engine bay. have a seach on how to do this.
Steve
1. Leave the stock airbox in place, it will work much better than a Induction kit. The sensor is a airflow sensor so needs to stay in place. 2. Check for error codes.

Thanks first thing is keep the stock air intake, some of the aftermarket ones are totaly crap and can cause endles problems, the light is the warning triangle, it will light up if doors or rear hatch is not properly shut, also if brake fluid is low, and will flash if the car has a fault, is it on all the time or intermitently
ben_stevo
The triangle is on all the time when the engine is started along with the light in the centre of the dash which indicates that a door is open. I have tried the error code trick and no ligts flash etc.... Where is the best place to buy a panel filter from then? I dont want an expensive one just something cheap that wont cuase problems and does the trick.
AndyT
The door light fault will keep the warning triangle on bud. If I don't shut mine solidly, mine stays on. So it would seem you have a faulty door sensor.
ben_stevo
Yeah thats what it seems like to me but if you push the buttons in with the door open then the interior light goes off so the only explanation I can think of is it must be the rear hatch, Where is the button located on the rear hatch? anyone know? I had a look for mine yesterday and couldnt see anything!
Steve
Doesnt the handbrake bring on that light aswell? I cant remember......

Animal
If you look on the door itself, you will see a little plastic tab next to the door catch. When I changed my doors, these sere slightly out causing the door warning light to stay on. They are held in by one screw and a little plastic lug on the back which sits into a hole in the door. It's possible that one of these may have moved (maybe the lug is worn or snapped) and needs adjusting. I ended up cutting the lugs off and turning the tabs inward a little and I've not had a problem since.
Rob
Also check the bonnet sensor, a little black rounded button in the metal bar just in front of where the airbox is. It can slip off the rubber seal and act like the bonnet is open. The other sensor is for air temp. I have an HKS mushroom and that has a pre-made mounting hole in the metal body of the filter. Marco79
Stick with the stock setup and if you feel the need just go down the aftermarket panel filter route.
