They should just add a rule in whereby your coasting lap must be within a certain time. Job done no open to interpretation rule and everybody knows where they stand. I saw about 5 cars coasting back how come the Mclarens were the only punished party or is that an obvious answer

It looked like the Macs were thinking about a wet race anyway, where as the Ferraris were on fumes going for pole.

Interestingly Alonso and Massa tend to throw the car into the kitty litter under presure, the Toyota never races well and Webber will stuff it anyway, probably into the back of a BMW in turn 1 on lap 1.

The McLarens were on the racing line and I'm assuming the others were not.

I'm sure the other cars were a little off putting too if you consider the relative speed and the fact that you don't know if they've seen you and may just decide to move across the track.

If your coasting then Im sure as a racing driver you aware you should stay off the racing line as much as possible, thats just common curtesy isnt it ? So I say deserved, as much as I want to see both McClarens do well.......

But that aside, good to see both Toyotas in the top 10, lets see if they can get some points this time around unlike Truli being let down by his steering wheel like last time.....

No, I reckon it was deserved (unfortunately) as they were right on the racing line as he came through. They got sloppy is all.

I reckon it was deserved aswell, however 5 places is a bit harsh. Would have thought about 2 places, really.

I agree they were in the way and may have hampered Haidfelds lap, but what I don't like is the way the FIA seemingly hand out different punishments to different drivers/teams.

Col's suggestion is good.....say complete a coasting lap within 120% of your fastest qualifying lap, with a set in stone punishment for failing that, eg lose 2 grid spots.

Glock was somewhat unlucky last time too with that service road launching his car so spectacularly.

It's also LH's 2nd worst starting position, the worst being 10th in the European GP last year, which was a nightmare race for him, he worked up to 6th straight away, but then picked up a puncture from someone elses crash...

Then he ended up getting lapped, was allowed to unlap himself under the safety car, but only finished 9th...
