Mike M
Hi Folks, If i blip the throttle I'm getting a rattle off the fan belt and I can see the tensioner and little damper vibrating causing the rattle noise. Is this normally just a knackered damper or will the tensioner need doing too. Cheers Mike

TrickTT
My auto doesn't have the damper, but my tensioner has started to get noisy. A squirt of WD40 has quietened it down for now, £116 from toyota, i would guess the manual one would be a similar price.

Scooter
Rob have a look at this thread Ian C's pic show the manual tensioner with the damper removed but you can see where it would attach (its vertical when in position) EDIT just read that to the end.............your memory must be going Rob
Mike M
Damn, sounds like the tensioner then but the damper should be an easy check with the belt off. Going to be doing a bit of work on this soon as in a new belt and overhaul kit for the power steering pump. How can you confirm if the tensioner is knackered? can you feel any play in them? Cheers Mike
