Power steering went than came back?

Hi all,

Bit of a strange one was driving my supra today on the A39 then the road opens up into 2 lanes up a hill so I put my foot down to over take some cars and when I got to the top of the hill to turn into a junction my steering was very heavy.

So I pulled up opened the bonnet and the belt was still there got back into the tried the steering again was still very heavy turned off the car then started it again still the same. So I phoned my local garage they said bring it in and then all of a sudden it was fine again took it to my local garage and they couldn’t see anything wrong but suggested it may be the power steering pump on its way out and to bring it in if it does it again.

What do you guy think?

Cheers

Jonathan

Could be the crank damper starting to seperate and slip under load. Until it fails totally it can be hard to spot.

Thanks Chris. whats a crank damper? is it a hard job to fix? is it expensive? is it pos for me to look at it and see if its that?

Thanks again

The lower pulley on the end of the crank that drives the auxiliary belt and PAS pump.
