rick001
Guys, Just had my n/a --TT conversion (5 speed manual j-spec) done and its fantastic , only 1 issue, the speedo is reading about 40% less than actual mph - The n/a clock was swapped for the TT one and transfered my original converter/delimiter over to the TT clock but its not working correctly - please can anyone shed any light on this
garethr
Well.... MPH is about 60% of KPH (62.137% to be a little more accurate), so it sounds as if the speedometer was already reading MPH and your converter is making it under-read. What happens if you remove the converter?

dini_the_owl
why did you swap the speedo? you only need the tt tacho?
Luigi_Gool
Apparntly the NA Rev counter isn't compatible with the TT engine. I've still got NA dials and only my speedo works in Kph! But i can live with that for now
rick001
Luigi is right , you have to swap the Rev counter for TT one - my problem is why wont my speedo work even though i have a convertor on the TT speedo (original one from the n/a)? very frustrating - Going to try it without a convertor and validate against a sat nav, if thats no good will install a Thor de-limiter/converter to see if that works
Supra ST Myster
are the clocks that you replaced them with from a UK spec car, as if so you wont require the convertor as when i had my jspec tt and installed a UK speedo you dont need one as its all done on the clock unit itself. I never new there would be an issue? I am using AEM standalone and full TT J spec engine wiring loom. So far all of it plugs in fine apart from the loom around the front that feeds the relays to the cooling fans and Factory Traction control which i have substituted with koyo rad, 19 row cooler and RLTC P.S. sorry for double post i am CRAP!!....& cannot find how to delete! Chris Wilson
The N/a has a very different diff ratio to the TT, if you still have the N/A diff in it then a TT speedo will be well out.

dini_the_owl
the n/a tacho gets its signal from the negative side of the coil where as the tt tacho gets its signal from the ecu, as for the diff/speedo thing, i did both and found very little difference as diff ratio's on tt/n/a are very much alike apart from the drop off in 6th.... anyway you will need to mod/rewire part of the front engine loom into the fusebox for the 2nd efi relay/fuse. also you may have spares for the electric colling fan relays which fit behind the front light. dini_the_owl
dosent make any difference as signals on tt come frome same place, for your setup ie 5 spd i would imagine your problem maybe with the w58 speed sensor on the gearbox, located on the side failing that it could stem from the delimiter mentioned below.. "The n/a clock was swapped for the TT one and transfered my original converter/delimiter over to the TT clock but its not working correctly - please can anyone shed any light on this" where was the n/a delimiter situated, mine was situated behind the clocks in the front loom so there was no need to touch this, just unplug the dials and change..when you say its not working correctly do you mean its not working at all,or does function but not at correct speed or varies and waves around alot? My original delimeter was situated behing the dash as yours is - swapped to TT cluster then speedo not giving correct speed - removed delimeter and speedo cock on!! (without a delimeter on a j-spec clock) now my check light comes on at @60mph but think i have solution from colin and will redo that tonight. Thanks for yout time Andy, sorry i did not call derek
