Odd whistling sound

Hey all,

After a bit of advice - my Supe is making a bit of a strange noise at low revs. Its kind of a whistling sound - it sounds a bit like if you blow into a half empty bottle of beer (my powers of description are second to none!)

When I get going, it seems to stop. Could it be the SMIC? I had a look at it a while back and it didn't look in too bad a condition but it does seem to be coming from that area.

Any ideas?

check the tightness of the reed valve near the 2nd turbo outlet, mine made this noise from there

 

its like a box with 4 nuts holding the lid on, other than that, try changing the stock bov

My car used to do this, not last winter but the one before. At low revs I had the bottle blowing sound on cold days for the first few miles, then it would stop. Strangely I didn't get it this winter - maybe it fixed itself?

 

Through reading threads on here I suspect it is something to do with the BOV.

Quite a few threads on this now, I have had it for years and not got to the bottom of it.....although I did give up and stop trying to figure it out.

 

I think ita a BOV problem, are you running a stock BOV?

Cheers guys, I'll have a poke around later and see if I can see anything obviously wrong.

It is a stock BOV - are they expensive to replace?

Just an quick update, replaced the BOV and odd noise has gone!

 

I can't comment on whether the odd noise has been replaced by a new noise, but its definitely fixed!
