Cheers but I don't have a 360 yet!

I'm thinking of getting one but then there's the whole HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray issue and I'm still not convinced about how reliable they are.

well i had 2 x-boxs the second was the elite and they both went wrong, i'll never have another one again, ps3 all the way as it has blu-ray as well cant go wrong :)

The 360 Premium doesn't connect through HDMI, it uses component, so you get an adapter with it that uses the same cable and allows it to plug into the scart.

Just remember to make sure the switch on the lead ( at the 360 end ) is on TV not HD because it won't work otherwise.

The picture quality won't be anywhere near as good though:(, so go and get a HD capaple monitor or TV, you will notice the difference:d

I've only just lost my 1st 360 after having it since launch but not to worry they sent me a new 1 with the new motherboard thing and cooler runnin ecu thingy mbob! :D

Can't go wrong with it if you ask me, live jumps alover the psn, many exclusives that are MUCH better than ps3 offerings and you can download full movies in HD!

Hd dvd and blu ray has been decided ;)

the newer x box's are more reliable from my understading they use slightly less power than the older ones, so heat isn't such an issue.

The newer xbox 360 premiums also have an HDMI slot but im pretty sure there is an adaptor with it too.

I've seen the difference and I don't think it's worth buying a new TV for.

I know. I meant that maybe Microsoft would do some sort of deal with Sony to included Blu-Ray in future versions of the 360. Then I thought 'why worry about it?'. When I want Blu-Ray I'll buy a dedicated player.

Re: the Scart thing I'm assuming that I could connect it up directly to Component as my ageing CRT has had this for years. The only issue would be that the DVD player uses Component and I don't fancy having to keep swapping them over.

Then use the scart? I thought that's why you were originally asking? Mine came with the following:

RGB, component(LRV), HDMI and scart, two cables and an adapter.

Originally I couldn't see that the 360 came with (or even had a scart lead available). I've since learned that not only is it scart compatible but you can also use component input.

This would be better than scart but would mean having to swap plugs around to watch dvds or play games.

Unless of course I can find a multi-input component adaptor!

Comprendez?
