Mechanical Warranty issues

Hi, My brother (against my advice!!) bought an MGF in November. He got a 3 month warranty and then when that ran out took out another years extended mechanical failure warranty.

His car has just died and it's in the garage and they've taken the head off and one of con-rod bearings has welded itself (not 100% sure as my bro is useless with stuff like this). The warranty people have inspected it and said it's 'wear & tear' not mechanical failure, so won't pay anything towards the repair (he's been quoited £700)

Anyone got any suggestions?

I also suggested he got the tappets done, as I believe these are a weak spok on the old K-series, while the heads off anyway, but he ignored my suggestion

Ha Ha. Just did a search and, at random, found a policy that has these word in it under exclusions:

Loss of, destruction of, or damage to any property (or any loss, expense or legal liability this leads to)

caused by or contributed to by ionizing radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear

fuel or from any nuclear waste from the burning of nuclear fuel.

Bet that not's called on to be investigated often. Would have thought the car was the least of your worries LOL :D

To be honest buddy if i was in your shoes i would just leave him to it. If he keeps ignoring you then why bother?

Spinning a bearing is a mechanical failure, can't really see where they are coming from there. He should ask what is covered with mechanical failure lol.
