Angarak
Prove that it's built before Jan 1973 and you can waltz in and out of the post office with a free disc and pollute the atmosphere as much as you like. Does this mean you could get a pre-73 car (ie: 71 reg Datsun 240Z) and transplant a post-73 engine into it (ie: RB26DETT) and not pay road tax? Not sure how it works for emissions though come MOT time, the pre 73 car would just get a visual check for smoke but I dont know if this still stands with a more modern engine fitted. Would be a cool project. How early do the Celicas go back again:eyebrows:

Sharpie
They didn't put it up a fiver then? Oh well, remember for next year! To$$ers, NOT you Pete. What I did not understand was that why should the price change from £180 to £185 when buying the tax during the month of March. I guess most will say, duhhh Budget day on the 12th but, that did not change anything for road tax for the Supra. It was already set in the 2007 budget to go up by £5 from the 1st April 2008 anyway. So, why can you buy a 1yr tax disc on 12th March for £180 and on March 17th it cost £185 with both discs starting 1st April. I guess DVLA have a pricing/charging day on the 15th of the month.......I should of NOT followed the rules and bought it last week as Pete highlighted. Sharpie
Because your Tax starts in April they charge you the extra from now. It happened to me last year, hence the warning. I don't know what the rise will be, but I'm sure there will be one and I'd rather us all save our money collectively. Hmmm Well, I wanted to have faith in the system at the risk of £5. If it allowed you to buy a disc for £180 in March, the purchasing month so, would like to think that if you purchased the same tax in the same month, it would of been the same.
