marcAB10
You could try something like this: “Listen mate, the thing is that we’ve all seen the Jim Carrey routine and it gets really old, really fast. I know that you got a lot of attention in college with the “I’m mad, me” stuff, but this is a different environment and it p*sses a lot of people off. The thing is, you’re not even very good at it. You’re boring and repetitive. You don’t amuse people or make them think you’re eccentric and interesting – they just think of you as a boring tw@t. You’re not some sort of comedy genius, nor are you some sort of loveable genuine nutter. You come across as a lonely kid trying to gain some recognition. Try to think of other people’s working day and how irritating it can be to have someone going through the same boring sh*t routine. Try to think of some other way of getting your needs met that isn’t so selfish”. I reckon something like this might result in him first of all (a) making some monkey noises etc (b) claiming he’s “always been like this”. Then, with some luck, he could well go off and sulk for a while. it does seem a good idea, that's if he stands still long enough to lighsten.. colsoop
Sectioned? Mental illness? He's a 17 year old kid who has managed to get himself noticed at college for being a 'nutter' and is now trying out the role at work, hoping to get the same attention and praise. Nothing complicated. Just needs a healthy dose of ignoring and/or sarcasm. So true
tbourner
I would say he's ill if he was like that all the time, but I can guess what you mean when you say he can act normal as well. It would still be funny to get him sectioned, but unfortunately if he's not a danger to anyone they won't even look at it. Do you actually need to interact with him? Otherwise whenever he's in one of 'those' moods, just completely ignore him like he's not there, or even call him over to look at something THEN completely ignore him!!
