mak07
Hi, I am experiencing problems with the auto box. It started with the ABS light coming on and a little bit of the gears jumping slightly, but now when setting off it doesn't know which gear to select, keeps going from first to second and then back again. It has started doing it in second and third. Is it an electrical problem or have to dig deep for serious cash. Cheers Mark.

jamesmark
Checked error codes? Also autoboxes do not fetch very much money you can pick one up for £150-£300 tops.
hiten55
mine did something similar but would end up stalling! remove the sensor on the passenger side of the gearbox, clean it, and put it back. if that doesnt work, change the gearbox fluid. if that doesnt work change the sensor. mine was a problem with the ecu not getting correct signals or something. basically it was down to dirt on the sensor or in the fluid. mak07
Right, so can this be accessed under the bonnet or under the car. Will it be a case of cleaning the sensor or do they have a history of being faulty.
Terminator
yes checked this. All ok from here. Did you carry out the warm up and selector movements before measuring the level?
