uzthedentist
My car has gone in for its PHR street single setup, My car is a JSPEC auto TT pics will be coming soon and i will be updating this thread with pics and eventually dyno (when i have the money!) I have already got quite a few mods to the brakes and suspension so luckily dont have to do that! The kit cost approx 2500 but there are also additions that Ive had to purchase, and ones that I didnt but futureproofed. So far its: PHR street single kit, Sard 650cc injectors AEM EMS AEM wideband UEGO controller AEM TRUboost boost controller Aeromotive FPR Fuel bypass pulse dampener UK spec decat things that I didnt need but got anyway: Power steering tank with braided fittings, Toyota power steering pump GReddy cam gears GReddy cam belt Oil catch tank Billet idler pulley Things I still need but cant yet afford lol: Auto gearbox cooler Engine oil cooler Full breather setup Torque converter upgrade hence driving at pretty low boost to start off with. Yes I know it is useless without pics so I will update as soon as i have it!
imi
Looks like a good setup, similar to what I have in mind. Who is doing the work (install and mapping) Where did you get the kit from (feel free to PM with details if you dont mind) Did you look at any other Single kits, example a T61 with DBB? Wez
Nice, one thing I would do different is bin the AEM truboost and use the AEM ECU to control boost and have a high low mode.
imi
Wez. so AEM as a stand alone ECU mapped to the particular CAMs, etc AEM controlling the boost (does it need a solenoid / how does that work?) What about AEM doing the Traction Control, or should one stick with a Racelogic TC if one has it. What else to setup with the AEM

I am getting the work done at whifbitz as well as the mapping. Paul has seen me alright so far! I bought the kit through them as he had a deal on shipping as was ordering a few of the kits from customers From what ive read, and seen in vids etc, a small turbo like this one would be best for auto. In fact I thought my twins had died, hence why i bought this, but they are alive and well!!
Wez
Correct you will need a boost solenoid. You can use the stock one or get a 3rd party unit, dont buy the AEM badged solenoid as its just a MAC vavle with a markup of nearly 80%, its a great vavle but get it somewhere else, Ryan can source these at a very resonable price. When the AEM boost control is setup properly it works a treat, its also one of the only boost controls that I have seen maintain the same boost on and off a dyno run, you can also configure speed dependant boost to aid traction at lower speeds. This is how mine is setup. The AEM can do traction control but I dont know anyone who uses it yet.

uzthedentist
In a follow up to pauls thread I have been having a fair bit of fun with this today!. The car is VERY fast and totally different than my car at BPU. full boost by about 37-3800. currently due to issues with the boost controller it is set at 1.5 bar. It wasnice and dry this morning so had some fun drives around milton keynes. The torque in this thing is utterly ridiculous, its serious rip your head off time, and the noise with an open wastegate is like a jet engine on boost! I cannot descibe how bloody quick this thing is, ideal for the auto, any bigger would be too big i think. Ill post some more info when ive tested it more

uzthedentist
Glad your enjoying it. Do you think you will be looking into a high stall? yes mate and the oil and power steering coolers also one annoying thing in traffic isthe hard gearchanges though, due to the aem standalone. the sound though is crazy loud so i have to be careful past the cops! Wez
one annoying thing in traffic isthe hard gearchanges though, due to the aem standalone. Can you expand on this a little, how hard are the changes, has the auto shift retard function been enabled etc.
uzthedentist
im not sure about retard function but the 1-2 is a bit hard, but liveable

Dont people recommend sticking with the stock ECU for the Auto changes......while the AEM for the rest.
JamieP
Nice install. I think the motec is the best option for autos going single or going with piggy back, ive only been in one auto aem car and it was dreadful imo.
