I am Dual nationality but don't have a British passport yet. been here 21 years and British nation by decent. I'm travelling to France and Norway in a month or two but I was wondering If I will have any problems returning to the uk under my Australian passport. I will be ringing the British and Australian embassy tomoz but thought I may try the knowledgeable forum whilst I wait!
Havard
I wouldn't imagine so, based on what you have said. If there are any problems then simply wrap yourself in blankets and claim that you can't speak English. You won't only get into the country but they'll give you some money and a house........bargain!! You should be ok mate!! H.

CJ
I would definitely advise talking to the Embassies before you leave. I have a friend who until recently held a Malaysian passport. She had been living in this country for over 10 years (married a Brit guy had children and then got divorced) and she used to have incredible problems every time she left the country and came back in. Why would you have problems if you have a valid passport? Seems a bit strange to me!! H.

I think its more if you are allowed to stay in the country without a visa. as technically I have nothing to say I am a British citizen... even though I have been here for 21 years. Its been a nightmare to get passports etc etc. lol

CJ I presume she had citizenship? If she didn't have citizenship I am rather stunned they let her back in at all.

Yes, she had citizenship but proving that was a big hassle. After the second occasion she then gave up her Malaysian passport and now has a British one. I think that is where my friend went wrong - she assumed (as did others here) that you can just turn up with a passport and in you come. In reality, if you are outside of the EU (and especially from specific countries), they want to know the ins and outs of everything.
