Dave
can you increase the revs at idle cause mine is on 450 -500 i think thats a bit low whats the correct idle revs ????
dwayne
i'd like to know the answer to that too as mine sometimes drops low enough to cut out. so far i've just been adjusting this
Nic
That is quite low. I'd try resetting the ECU first, disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then take it for a drive, it may be a bit lumpy at first, but a few miles and the ECU will relearn the settings. CarlT67
I believe that you cant adjust the idle as it is controlled via the idle control valve and the ECU. However it must be determined by an input to the ECU, unfortunately I don't know what that is, if I knew it may fix my car too.
bodilx6
Same expiriences here. ECU has been reset several times when doing other stuff. After going full BPU for the second time (had a period with the 1st cat in) the problem seemed to be worse. It holds 500 rpm nicely but if I start the engine when its warm (0-60 minutes after a drive) it revs VERY uneven and usually dies on me untill I either turn on the AC (to lift rpm) or drive a few meters. Then all is well (if 500rpm idle is well). Cant figure. Can this also be o2 sensor?

dwayne
i sorted mine!!! (well temporarily) cleaned my 02 sensor, reset ecu and it cured it. probably wont last long but i've got a new one on the way
SupraTRD83
How did you clean you 02 sensor?
Ian C
The low idle is the symptom of a problem, not a problem in itself. Find and fix the actual problem and your idle will be sorted Check fuelling (i.e. the O2 sensor), it's probably too rich. MAF based cars may have an air leak in the intake system. -Ian
themodifiedkid
Sorry to hijack this thread but my car when settled idles between 800 and 850 revs, is this too high? Cheers
Homer
Sorry to hijack this thread but my car when settled idles between 800 and 850 revs, is this too high? Cheers For a completely stock car it's slightly higher than normal once fully up to temp, are there any other signs of issues? Most TT's idle around 650-800rpm, the NA seems to have a lightly higher idle at around 750-850rpm (at least on mine!)
Supranature
Clean your IACV out with brake/carb cleaner. Sudden low revs points to this IMO
Supranature
Dave (OP), on an NA it is facing you on the top of the left-hand cam cover. Best of luck getting the bottom screw out!

SupraTRD83
It does my head in, coming back from the girlfriends tonight it cut out on me twice when stopping at traffic lights, only cured when I put the lever into N at a stand still
