Guest daz 6576
just took out my single turbo for the first time and it seemed to be fine at first and sounding awesome after putting my foot down a few times car sounded like a tractor and its still sounding very loud. the noise is coming from the wastegate with the screamer pipe on it. could it be stuck open ? Jake
Could be. Have you lost all boost?
Guest daz 6576
it will still accelarate but not as fast. would it make your car sound like a bag of nails if it was stuck open
Jake
How much boost was it making before the problem happened? Will it still make boost now? Or won't it rev high enough? Are you the guy that is planning on fitting a TO4R and running it with stock fuelling, injectors, ECU etc ?
Guest daz 6576
it will still make boost but it sounds dreadfull. it sounded mint before this happened its on stock injectors for now and ecu but its not staying like that for long.

Guest daz 6576
i think it was about 18 psi
Jake
So about 1.25bar on a TO4R and stock j-spec fuelling then? You've probably melted a piston or something.
Guest daz 6576
possibly but the noise is just coming from the screamer pipe. suppose the only way to find out is to take off the wastegate and have a look if its stuck. thanks for your help anyways

Terminator
Are you the guy that is planning on fitting a TO4R and running it with stock fuelling, injectors, ECU etc ? You can't be serious ----------- all of the above and 1.25 bar. Pull the plugs out and see what state they are in.
kieren1234
He keeps asking questions, but doesnt listen to people. If it is an xs-power wastegare then they are prone to sticking open when under heat. A way to sort it i have heard is to slightly ground down the piston of the wastegate but would just get a different one if i was you.
magictorch
I really hope you havent done any serious damage and if so Please listen to the guys on here!!!!

paul mac
He keeps asking questions, but doesnt listen to people yeah that, absolutely insane, strap a big turbo on, have to post to ask which connection goes where on the turbo , stock fuel, then rag the a**e out of it, then sit scratching your head wondering whats wrong and post up help needed:donkey: unbelievable
michel lane
some people will never learn , i guess listening to your friends did the trick and now you have a broken engine ......
Guest daz 6576
the car is not being run until it gets all other supporting mods such as an ecu and all the fueling ect so its not going to blow
Steve
But you already have been running it at 18psi with stock ECU, fuelling.......
TLicense
the car is not being run until it gets all other supporting mods such as an ecu and all the fueling ect so its not going to blow So you don't think it's blown already? Despite not having any idea of how rich or lean you've just had it when running at 18psi, no idea of what the exhaust gas temperatures were, and now the addition of the fact that it's running like a bag of shite? Hmmmm. I don't know if it's blind optimism or blisful ignorance.... Personally, I think you've already fecked it, so you might as well run the nuts off it. Either way you'll probably end up having to strip it down. If not, who know's the problem "might just go away".
