No noise from Blitz BOV fitted now a oil leak

Hey. my first proper post and after searching the threads for tips on the Blitz BOV fitting.

Found stuff about adjusting the screw etc which did nothing, so I took it off to check it closer as the piston was hardly moving then it would make a pop sound and jump up, to my utter dismay I found a fricking blanking DIY plastic gasket thing blocking the entire BOV (WTF!!) why? (bear in mind it was used and purchased from E-bay for £90.00

Anyway put it back together minus this gasket, then like a melon I looks into the exit of the BOV as I rev and let off (to see if piston was moving) had my face sprayed with WD40 and a jet of air that blew my eyeballs out nearly!!!.

So in a nut shell I've driven maybe 50 miles with no BOV as the stock BOV was removed and plugged, there was noise like a BOV and cha! cha! cha! sounds but that was from Trust pod filter.

I have now noticed a wet oily film from a join (see photo) and two bolts are tight have I buggered something?

All seems well to my untrained eye (other than the leak) I think this was leaking when the BOV was blanked but not now?

The "cha cha cha" was probably the turbo stalling without a BOV. No great harm as long as it doesn't go on for too long. The oil is probably blow-by that escaped from the stock BOV when it was still in place. It's common, not cause for undue worry unless you get enough to drip down to the exhaust and catch fire.

The cha cha cha noise is compressor stall, horrible sound isn't it. That's what the BOV stops happening.

The oil leak looks like the turbo oil feed is leaking, it seems from the pictures to be quite a leak. It could also be coming from a loose breather pipe, the one between cam cover and intake pipe, or even the cam cover gasket itself. Definitely needs investigation, it's certainly not your normal PCV/breather system quantity of oil. edit - it's also far too localised, the BOV sprays a mist of oil everywhere.

Dunno if a comment was wanted or not but I have two alarm bells ringing with your BOV install in the 2nd picture. One, the engine actively rocks to its left and right while you drive, it can shift quite a bit under acceleration and engine braking. Looks to me like the BOV is tight up against the battery so that may cause you problems, from breaking the hose on the intake pipe to wearing a hole in the battery - which wouldn't be good at all.

Two, the hose feeding it seems rather strung out. If it popped off or split while driving it might get snarled up in the accessory belt and that'd be messy although probably nothing major unless it damaged the radiator hose.

Just my 2p ;)

No, I thank you for your comments, I must say I'm not best pleased by the BOV and battery space fight, but can't figure a solution other than a smaller battery as the BOV can not go any other way.

Yes I do need to re-route the silicone hose

The leak as stopped, before removing that blanking plate from the BOV I noticed it (air blowing out causing oil movement) now the air as a BOV to vent to its stopped, gunna clean it up and keep an eye on it.

The photo sucks, but its come from the intercooler routing, there is a join with two 12mm nuts and a gasket.

Still cant think why the blitz BOV had that blanking gasket, I'm guessing they did not like the sound so fitted the stock one again and simply blanked this one off as its incorperated in the hard I/C pipe?? who knows!

Cant say I get any oil vapour from the BOV.

I cut the battery tray slightly, so I could move the battery a little, otherwise the BOV would rub through the battery wall in time!!!

My vaccum is picked up from the other side of the engine bay so not sure about your photo

The BOV probably had a blanking plate as who had it previously only wanted the hardpipe that the BOV is attached to and either ran the stock bov or an aftermarket bov mounted where the stock bov is. Thats the only reason I can see for blocking the bov on the hardpipe off.
