What do you mean what have you done ? You have either had a dump amid a chorus of angels or you have sold your car. Did'nt you mean to ?

Yeah but....No but....I guess so, but wanted a little more...had almost two days left on ebay and was going to see what happened with the bidding. I did not expect to wake up today and sell the car.

I've had exactly the same questions as well today, ebay name Calibra727. Could be a genuine buyer but just be extra careful.

Okay...it's the same guy..you selling your's then too....what was he asking you?

I have never sold a car on ebay before so this could end up being my 1st experience of a scam, but I will try and be careful and alert.

Thanks for the 'heads up'

Oh sh*t. It's not looking good guys. :(

And DO NOT put the guy on your insurance. Let him organise his own.

We agreed that he would do his own insurance, so he wants the vehicle details..chassis no. etc so he can get this done. Shouldn't he be able to do this over the phone, so I should wait for him to get here 1st then give him the details?

He asked exactly the same questions by the sound of it.

I told him, arrange your own insurance, cash only in UK Pounds and I would have the bank accept the money before I parted with the keys.

Also I would not give out VIN details. That can be checked on the day of the .

Registered in Germany and not Belgium

Can a Paypal transaction be reversed for any reason? Personally I'd only ever be happy with cold hard cash or an on-the-day bank transfer.

Thats what I was thinking, so if the deposit goes through into my account and clears then we can go forward, I will only give up the keys when payment is in the bank / cash in hand.

A Paypal desposit can be pulled at any time if the buyer complains to paypal stating either that he did not make the transaction or he did not get the goods. Thus you should never accept Paypal for the whole value of a car since you have no way to prove that you has the car (other than your word or his signature which Paypal can't prove is his).

If the guy is sending exactly the same email there may be 2 reasons... 1. he is a con artist or 2. he doesn't speak good English and has templates which he sends to everyone.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the update..

I just got in from a long day and I have not done anything different so far regarding the buyer....The deposit payment of £200 is enroute to my bank account still pending - obviously takes 5-7 days to clear into my account, which by then we will see if everything is okay. Hopefully that should clear by Wed/friday the latest, collection on Saturday to be arranged with 'cash on collection'.

With regards to email's - he did say that he was looking at another car that he was interested in which only had 20 minutes left on the auction. Maybe these were the emails that were sent to the other ebay member.

Latest update:

Buyer called me earlier to confirm pick up next Saturday, and I must say he sounds quite genuine.

He is a bit concerned with getting stopped at customs leaving the UK, through France and into Belgium? Especially when the car will not have foreign plates on it. If he gets stopped cant he just say it's his car, as he will have all the vehicle documents and obviously a reciept from me? whats the likelyhood of him getting stopped and what would happen if he did?

Plus what happens with the road tax? surely he will have to have road tax if he is driving it.
