Baffle instead of restrictor ring?

If the cat's impose back pressure on the turbos, so limiting boost and a restrictor ring does the same (albeit to a different degree), would a baffle in the tailpipe do the same?

 

Could this give a dual benefit of lower noise (for track days) and controlled boost?

I've heard that a baffle can rob you of 30hp on a BPU

It will quieten the exhaust, but will rob you of power to i lost 50BHP to a simple bung of 2.5" dia and about 6" long, and that was in a 3.5" exhaust.

Better to lose 30bhp than to miss out on track time though.

Yes both! but i only removed the baffle to regain the 50BHP.
