It's my fourth early start of the week, and I'll still be here til late. I'm short on staff as it is and one is on holiday, the boss is away too so I'm in charge, loads of problems in live, stupidly busy, in tomorrow again as well. Yes I wish I could have had today off.

It sounds like you need help, I can be there for 12, get a contract drawn up ;)

There are probably positions coming up soon in "Change Control" and "Build and Deployment" teams soon which would possibly be more your area going from what I know of what you do now... trouble is I suspect you'd be taking a major pay cut.

I get paid by the hour so doesn't bother me. :)

Never been in a job where you get paid at the end of the month so don't know about these things, but I assume that you take home the same for every calendar month. So really you get paid 2 or 3 days extra in a normal 28-day February anyway and 1 or 2 in a leap year? :search:

Swings and roundabouts and all that.

3 months? Wow, you must be nearly due a promotion?

It's not through choice - budgets slashed across the entire business, thanks to the floods (the cheek of people to claim on their insurance!!!). And everything we have runs just as it should....so very limited maintenance work. Team member left yesterday - we decided not to get in a replacement as we couldn't justify it.
