razza
I'm going through a moment of thinking of selling up, and just was interested in people's opinions. I'm after something fun for the summer, maybe until start of next year. I'm looking at about £5k. It will be a daily driver. Could do with somewhere to put the shopping. Current thoughts are: Supra n/a aerotop Nissan 300zx TT MR2 T-Top turbo M3/Alpina convertible (if you can get a decent one for this price, think it may be out of range though) Any others? Poll added to see opinions. I haven't added a 'don't be daft and keep the Supe' option as I imagine that would get the most votes:p

colsoop
I would have thought you would want something sensible before your wedding, that list you pulled up has potential for problems, especially with your luck

JamieP
Fiat 20v Turbo is meant to be the business. One of my mates has one of them, he paid £1400 for it and its surprisingly good, i thought it was pretty quick for the money.
JohnnyW
Your said you wanted rid of the TT to save a bit of cash so I don't really see much point in buying one of the cars listed above. If you buy an N/A or an MR2 turbo etc you're not going to save much money on fuel or insurance over keeping the TT. Also it'd be about 10 yearold car you'd be buying so there's always going to be something needing done on it - suspension/brakes/cambelt service etc etc. At least you know where you stand with yours it's got a good engine and uk turbo's fitted by a company that knows Supra's. If you are going to sell your TT to save money and the car is going to be a daily driver, dare I say it you'd be better looking at something like a TDi Golf or an Audi etc something Reliable and cheap to run. Just my 2p's worth!
razza
I would have thought you would want something sensible before your wedding, that list you pulled up has potential for problems, especially with your luck true, hence why I'm asking, don't want another repeat:taped: UK spec TT supra>?? potential for big amounts of cash to be spent, especially around that price mark, turbos must be getting close to going pop.. £5K, how many N/A's are you buying? actually meant aerotop, I'll adjust the poll, if I can get a nice car for less than £5k, even better, but would like a mint example after having my TT, as would miss the power but the looks could swing it. AlexM
How about an R32 GT-R? Little more space in the rear.. Wouldn't mind one to park next to my Sup .

Just my 2p's worth! Not bothered about running costs day to day, or insurance costs, downgrading to clear some of the debts it's set me back so I can start from a fresh (i.e. the lump sum I would get from selling mine vs the £5k cost of something else). Just don't want something that has a history of breaking easily either. Then down the line will come back to the TT, with a bit more money behind me as am used to saving for a wedding so can get some funds pretty quickly after honeymoon's over:sly:, a later version VVTi maybe:eyebrows: Unless anyone wants to buy mine and sell it back to me in a year:innocent:
razza
can a mod adjust the poll to read n/a aerotop please as I can't change it, thanks;)
JohnnyW
Fair game but what I kind of meant is say you sold your car for 7k (i have no idea of spec so don't be offended) then bought one of the above for 5k you may well find yourself spending 1k on getting it up to shape on things like suspension, tires, brakes, service, tax, insurance etc etc If it was me and I had to sell for financial reasons I would go all the way and forget high powered, high running costs cars for a bit and go down the reliable cheap runner route and then once the debts were cleared and wedding was out the way get back in the market for a mint TT. razza
Debt should be cleared straight off, just put a 47k mile engine in with UK tubbies, only 2 green TT's in the uk (that I know of), and there's alot of work gone into it. If I did sell I'd hope for considerably more than £7k;) I can afford the running costs of the supe, that's not the issue, the engine swap and associated loss of monies has left a dent in my pocket which I need to clear before July. Don't really want to do it, but my head tells me it's the right thing to do. My spare work car allowance will then be put aside each month to build a little fund to then sell and get another TT later. I will have enough each month to fund insurance, servicing etc. Just need to fix a dent in the bank:(
