chris2o2 Posted February 28, 2008 Share Posted February 28, 2008 I'm looking for some advice/input from any Golfers that may be lurking here I've been out of the fold for a while now , havent really played in 2-3 years and need to replace my Titleist 990 irons as i've just signed up to a course again . I used to play off a handicap of 5 and really liked the titleist however they now frustrate me as i'm quite rusty and the irons are almost blades. The only irons i've seen that i think i would like are the Callaway x20's , however they're a bit pricey . I havent a clue anymore whats good and whats not - can anyone suggest a set that may be off some good to me ? Looking to spend up to about £300 . Thanks . MaveriK Posted February 28, 2008 Share Posted February 28, 2008 If you used to be a good golfer there is no reason to think you will not get that ball strike back again once you have blown the cobwebs off. Yes, the cavity backs are more forgiving but you cant beat blades IMO. If you are dead set on changing your babies i would be looking for a progressive set, they are cavity top end and bladey short end. Or you could save your £300 and go to the driving range a couple of times a week and crash a few balls till you get some of your ball strike back. Trig Posted February 28, 2008 Share Posted February 28, 2008 I use mizuno MP33's. even thought they are blades they are quite forgiving and im playing off 12 at the moment, i picked mine up in mint conditon for £220 on ebay so they wont break the bank either. Now i reckon i'll be playing once maybe a week , unless my love for the game comes back ? even then i cant see me playing that much . I would love some blades and would love to be able to use them but i think i need something a bit more forgiving , those mp33's are nice though .
