SupraStar 3000
At about 11:45 this evening I was out in the garden looking for our cats when I saw it. The garden actually lit up from its light. It was really that bright!!!! Bloody thing was huge. No exaggeration, was the size of a rugby ball orange in colour with yellow sparks and a long blue/white tail and a few small parts around it. Moving very fast across the sky right above me. Most amazing thing i have ever seen! The hair on the back of my neck stood up as I gasped in amazement. Then it just vanished. Right infront of my eyes. Only thing that remained was a few tiny orange sparks that slowly disappeared! I genuienly cant believe what I have just seen Anyone know of a website I can check to see if there is a recorded cosmic event like this today. WOW!! That was cool!!! SILKYSMOOTH
Thread Hijacked temporarily.Sorry;) In July ’07, the girlfriend & I, and other members of the public witnessed these similar UFO’s, a group of 11-13 of these objects, above East London, early evening 5-6pm - although we saw them in daylight and they were quite high up, all in the same formation and moving slowly. They were definitely not balloons and they did not light-up, but looked like shiny round metal balls….you could see them quite distinctively. After searching for some answers, I came across these similar reports, and it seems there are quite a few, there is still no solid explanation as to what they are. Has anyone else seen anything like this…where and when? And what do you think they are…can be? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MAox0pcZZxo http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1LzEBSifiHc http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-bxLfxQYtF4

Pot
Apart from seeing the annual Perseid meteor shower, I haven't seen any others myself, when you say it was the size of a rugby ball, I'm intregued, considering the distance, you mean it was an oval dot yeah?... Then it blasted across the sky for a second or 2 and was gone?... From what I can guess, unless it was 'big' (In geeky space terms), I'd say you've had a very lucky sighting of a very good shooting star, I'd go so far to say that as you had such a good look, it was pretty close (In an upwards sense) to you when it went over, maybe 30 - 40 miles, but that'd still mean it landed in asia somewhere

SupraStar 3000
The 2nd video SILKYSMOOTH posted looked very much like the one I saw last night. From reading a few sites and watching that vid I'd say it was meteor How cool is that!!! Notice on the video the sky and surrounding area reflected the light from the object like a fire work does. Thats what it was like yesterday.

colsoop
If you saw it Ed chances are a few other garden lurkers would have seen it too. Astronomy websites may give you an idea of any passing anomalys. Do you feel more intelligent this morning, can you feel earthquakes before they happen, do you understand encrypted government radio data ? In relative terms, if I reached out and using my fingers to gauge a size excluding the tail about 10mm long x 4mm wide glowing orange. The tail was huge. 400mm approx. From start to finish it all lasted about 7 seconds. This site is very helpful and has some interesting facts http://www.popastro.com/home.html
