DaveM
I sold my beautiful Twin Turbo Supra in November and brought a big old Lexus LS400 to replace it. Unfortunately I am just not happy with the Lexus. It's quiet, well built, eats speed bumps but it's too soft for me and really does not like going around corners at anything above 50mph. So I'm looking at MK2 MR2 Turbo's to get something that's fun to drive again. I know that several Supra owners seem to have graduated from MR2 turbo's so can anyone advise me what potential problems I need to look for before I start looking. Also can anyone advise what they are like regarding running costs, insurance etc compared to a Twin Turbo Supra?
RobSheffield
I have one thats up for sale soon Lovely little car and quite sprightly, not quite as planted as a Supra at higher speeds but im surprised by the amount of grip available! Mine has the LSD and it feels so grippy!

Gibson Trimming
MR2 is a swear word in my house at the moment.. Saw this in the auto trader last week and went to view it on Friday as Vinny loves them and we sold ours last year. http://sis.virtual-showroom.co.uk/(4vsskt552cyxo445vk41bovj)/templates/stockListA/stockItem.aspx?clientCode=MandIAutos&mode=search&stockID=8065|687 I spoke to the bloke about a cash price for the MR2 and also a Jag he had there(As another little family car runaround) I said I could go get the cash now and what was his best price. He said he would get the boss to call me.. Dont know if it was because I am a girl..But i gave him my card and stuff. So i waited and chased him and i couldnt get hold of him..When i eventually did get hold of him yesterday he had sold it..Very strange as i had the cash to buy both..So now i have to find another birthday present for vinny..And vins upset cos it was mint.. johnny g
Fancy getting a nice rare MR2 Spider and shoving a 3.0ltr V6 in it http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=141823
The Raven
GT4 ? Id rather have one than the MR2
Jazzy
I've still got my MR2 atm, up for sale soon, and they are nice little cars. Well planted, and suprising nippy (mine is slightly tuned to around 260bhp). The only gripe I have about the car is that when it lets go, it lets go - very hard to catch. Running cost wise, insurance was about half what I pay on the Supra, but fuel costs oddly enough are about the same i.e. not cheap!

johnny g
I would rather blowtorch my nipples off than have a Mk1 3SGTE hybrid! Mk2 Spider is just the best, rarest one out there. Only 6 in the country - and I'm selling mine, Olly, buy it

DaveM
I had a Mk1 MR2 before I had my Supra, terrific car but the rust eventually beat it so definately going for a Mk2 this time. Does anyone know when the cambelt should be changed on these? I am thinking of going to see a Rev3 with 65k miles on it at the weekend. The guy tells me that it has a slight problem with the handbrake sticking on. Also does anyone know how much it costs to have a new clutch fitted (garage prices) in case it needs one? johnny g
I'd do the cambelt every 60,000 miles ... but I usually change mine every 18-24 months, which is about 6-10k miles lol Cambelt price is around £300. Clutch labour cost would be about 200-300 as well, as it's a fair old job. Buy mine - all them jobs are done

Rust, services etc. I just sold my rev2 turbo for £4000 but she was kitted up and running 270bhp.
