marc_p
Right there is bound to be some insurance bods here who can explain to me how the f**k this works. About a year ago I was queing in traffic and some guy just reversed out of a carparking spot and into the side of me, this caused about £350 worth of damage, which he decided to go through the insurance with, so it was he who claimed, NOT me. Now the supra this year was supposed to be £1600 FC to insure but because of the above accident it has gone up to £2100 FC to insure:blink:, because there is a claim on my insurance even though it is registered as not my fault. Surely this cannot be ethical and will complaining do anything. I mean I should of in theory said to the t**t of a guy don't worry about I will repair it out of my pocket as it would actually have been cheaper. Suddenly I realise why so many drivers are uninsured when things like this happen.
SteveR
Sounds almost identical to my incident, but my insurance didn't go up. Check they've recorded it right (i.e. NOT your fault, NO claim made on your insurance, FULL settlement agreed & case closed).
Daston
I may be having this problem very soon. A member of the public drove into my car when it was being MOT'd (not supra thank god) but if he wants to go through insurance I take it that it wont be my insurance but the garages. Firestorm
Surely it says- have You ever made a claim? rite so doesnt that mean No you didnt make a claim- ur insurance wasnt claimed on- they didnt pay to get ur car fixed u didnt notify them- but the 3rd partys insurance paid for the damage as he was liable. if all costs were made from his and ur insurance wasnt brought into play then i thought that means no claim on ur part. you cant be a victim of something u didnt do. he cant claim on urs if it was his fault rite!? so maybe retract that u claimed? m4dsup
i have been through this and it is literally as described. I had someone reverse into me in a petrol station causing £2500 worth of damage to my bmw. I started a claim with my company got advice and realised it may take months if not longer for my insurers to counter claim and go to court etc to get thier costs back in which time if i renewed i was classed as at fault by default. thereafter you are also classed as a risk as you have "claimed"!! the thing to do is ensure you claim on the third parties ins and never ever your own. load of sh1t aye

Stevie72
Unfortunately it's a case of, even if it was not your fault, you're deemed as liable to have an accident, hence the hike in premium. Life's not fair

Tricky-Ricky
A non fault claim is precisely that! it should not count against you, their taking the pea, go somewhere else, i have two no faults, claimed from the other insurer through my company, providing the claims are no outstanding then it should no have any affect on your premium. If the accident was the other guys fault then he would have to claim from his company, not yours as the fault was his,
ivan
If they insist on increasing your premium, tell 'em to Ef Off and get a quote from elsewhere (A-Plan etc)

Works better than other here. If you are to blame your premiums don't go up much. You certainly don't have to pay the price if someone else caused the accident - obscene! Yep, its registered on the UK database if thats what you mean? 20 0 NC Import All mods declared Fully Comp The original quote was £1500.00 but I drive a van for work and also told them I have an immobiliser, this got knocked down to £960.00. I would pay £400.00 for all the above if my car was UK.
