Gazboy
Really? They're only 360bhp, aren't they? Can't be that fast to 150 surely? Depends what you're used to, I guess. They actually quite fast (obviously not compared to a GT4088). I got my arse handed to me by one when I had 355bhp at Brunters, I trapped 153, the CSL's 168. A BPU+++(etc) supe did 170. I don't know why they are so fast, at SRR they are bang on the money, but their horses seem to go a long way.
marc_p
Nice but TBH too much money for my budget Being picky (which I would be for this much money) Don't like the front splitter, looks added-on-after. The wheels don't do for me either.
CJ
...I don't want to be the equivalent of a new guy on here going "Hey everyone, I've just bought a NA Auto with Veilside kit, 6000K HIDs and neon under car lighting from Keithley Car Centre"
JamieP
I like the 996 and i would have got one if they had a bit more room in them, get a test ride first Ian as like me you are tall and may struggle with banging your hands on your knees when cornering:)
Gruggs
Have to say I love my 996 GT3. I know it aint as quick in a straight line as a well "thorted thingle" but round the corners it is amazing. I am fortune enough to have mine spec'd with the full cage, fully adjustable hydraulic suspension and the bucket seats. The best bit about the car though is the noise from the engine. I test drove a lot of 996's before i bought one and have to say as much as the TT's are rapid you get no real engine noise......but the grin on my face from the noise of the GT3 engine!! The reason i bought the GT3 is the experience/excitement the car gives you rather than the out and out stupid.....plus i'm a tart! Nice speed yellow GT3 is less than subtle....well i do have an aerotop as well so easy enough to see i'm a tart! Cheers G
colsoop
Ian my advice would be to get the Supra setup by people who know what they are doing, i bet once a proper engine builder and mapper have worked their magic you will not be having thoughts
Ian R
I guess your right Col its just that at the moment I feel that i'm throwing money at something that in the end even when complete is worth jack and is becoming an equal with a vauxhall calibra with the influx of new owners if you catch my drift. The Porsche is going to hold its value

Do what i have done, strip it out and have fun on the track and don't worry about the image

Gazboy
Its normallythe toys that get sold first though Absolutely. In a way we are in a worse position than someone with a £30k Porsche though. The running costs of our cars a bigger percentage of the purchase price than that of a £30k Porsche. If the bubble does burt in a big way, I wouldn't want to be the owner of an imported Nissan GTR. Is that the Shark nose model? Arnt 996s not really appreciated in the Porsche world because of the looks, I can see a Turbo, GT3 or 2 still being worth the cash later down the line but not ten a penny NA 996s. Ian R
993's are holding price because they are still loved by the old school purists (aircooled) as they went watercooled in the

Shark nose? as in the flat nose? If so they are based on 930's and a real can or worms. The 996's are the less favoured 911's indeed but still have a big fan base. All 996's are going down, the GT2 the fastest- I've seen plenty of sub £60k cars (£120k new) although they seem to be leveling off at the moment. Yeah it was the flat nose I was thinking about Theres a guy in my town who's owned a Yelloe 968 RS for years. Not a fan of that shape tbh. GT2 the fastest- I've seen plenty of sub £60k cars (£120k new) although they seem to be leveling off at the moment. Same with most expensive cars.. wait a year or two and save 50% At least its not as bad as the XJ220 devaluation

About the same time I was thinking of buying Terry's black car (I was told we were being made redundant the next day so didn't persue it) I also saw a white 930 flat nose and asked the bods about it- turns out flatnoses are a minefield of trouble, most are fakes or poorly done or to hide crash damage. bignum
Ian, don`t do it, you think the supra is expensive to run!, you can basically double running costs with the porka, then theres the handling,:Pling:its a totaly different beast to drive than your supe and driving style to push it, the supra is predictable/ fairly forgiving and comfortable, the porsche will bite you in the ass given half the chance and is cramped if your 6ft tall, also i appreciate there are more porkas @ nurburgring but look how many crash, but at the end it`s your call.
