New Supra owner with a few quick questions!

Hi guys, iv been a member on here for a month or so now but I have been looking for a nice NA. I have managed to find one and im really pleased with it but I have a few quick questions.

 

1. What size are the front and back speakers as they are pathetic and im going to buy some new ones! I would take them out or measure them but I dont know how to get the covers off!

 

2. My Speedo has been converted to MPH and the odometer says miles after the milage but it still counts up in KPH! How do I sort it?

 

3. The lights around the heater dials and where all the buttons are sometimes come on and sometimes dont and sometimes some come on and some stay out! Whats the problem there?

 

4. What fuel should I use? normal unleaded or super?

 

5. my trans code has the B in it which indicates that it has the LSD, is this rare or common?

 

I am going to buy some speakers tonight hopefully so quick replys would be much appreciated. Thanks very much!

sorry i'm not much help, take a oem speaker with you to get the size right, don't over do your head unit though!

3. Check the conections. Chances are they will need cleaning and re-soldering. Reasonably easy im told.

 

4. I tend to put in V-power in my NA, just to help keep all clean and tidy (as they claim). But it wont hurt putting normal unleaded in.

You need to take the door cards off, for the front speakers. They are quite small around 4 inches or so, and have their own dedicated boxes. If you are handy with woodworking there is a downloadable schematic of the speaker brackets

 

the rears brakets are accessed by popping off the rear cover, a 6" speaker will fit in to there.

Get a decent speedo convertor a company called thor make them.

It sounds like dry solder on the circuit board, if you give it a whackon the side of the dashboard do the lights pop in to life ?

Normal is fine for a N/A.

It is not that common.

So its just got a poor speedo converter? Am i right in thinking that It just goes behind your clocks in the sender wire for the speedo? Does this alter the odometer and trip aswell automatically? My milage says 70,000 but still reads in km, surely it doesnt have 70,000 kms so it must have been altered, right?

 

The lights, even if I bang the dash they dont normally come on but every time I get in the car a different set of lights are off!

 

Also I can find the downloadable schematic for the speaker brackets on that link, all I can see is a group buy for them, I know a joiner so he will come in handy!
