Scoboblio
Do any intelligent (or even polite?) people use autotrader? The typical phone call I get; Them: Is it a UK car? Me: Nope, it's an import (like it says on the advert) Them: How many miles has it done? Me: 101k (again, like it says on the advert). Them: Is it manual or automatic? Me: It's automatic (you get the idea). Etc etc etc............. I'm off work ill today and one of these made the above mentioned call, followed with "I'll be there in a couple of hours", or words to that effect. After dragging myself out of my slumber and into a half presentable state, I wait for FOUR HOURS........ Nothing. So I text the above mentioned , only to be told "it's too far away". WTF? And you couldn't tell me this when you decided it this morning because? And this isn't a one off. In the summer I got fed up with using autotrader because of exactly this thing. How hard is it to A: Read the advert, and B: Let someone know when you've changed your mind? I feel like bloody crying
tooquicktostop
Selling is so frustrating at times, you see many timewasters before the right buyer comes along and restores your faith, I have had some interesting issues with selling parts on here in the last couple of months
peter richards
try e bay thats the same, people just think its a game to mess the seller about
Scoboblio
You're not wrong. I do like to make car salesmen work for their money. But when it's a private seller, just not turning up is sooooooo annoying.
Sparky
Woud you say Autotader is the best place to advertise a supra? Sorry for the thread hijack!
Havard
Some people seem to panic when speaking on the phone to a complete stranger, they tend to promise things they aren't going to do...... I am not looking forward to the time when my Supe goes up for sale as it will probably turn into an ars*h*les convention!! H.

miko_supra
my dad put his porshe up for sale on autotrader website and magazine (2 weeks), porsche forum and pistonheads. he had one lady come round off the forum, 3 calls of pistonheads (one of whome bought it) and nothing from autotrader what so ever. autotrader just seems a waste, you get loads of calls via them of companies saying they will garentee to buy your car aswell blah blah blah
Scoboblio
Basically they expect you to be stupid... "Yes of course! Come round right now and give me £4,000 for my car, which is £500 less than the asking price, and is already the cheapest twin turbo on autotrader! And while you're here, I'll drop my pants so you can give me a swift kick in the organs too!

But when you want to sell up and move on, being messed about really gets to you. If someone turns up and decides it's not for them, or isn't happy with the price I'm asking, fair enough, have a haggle or walk away. But blatant stupidity, and ruining someone's day or weekend because you can't be bothered to call or even text to say you aren't coming, is pikey.
