SupraAyf
Guys, have any of you converted a vehicle to run on LPG. Our local petrol station is selling it for 53p per litre and I am considering it for either my wife’s car or a 4x4. Does anyone know: 1. How much it costs to install? 2. Reliability of the kit? 3. What type of MPG you get on LPG? 4. Any special servicing requirements? Any help would be much appreciated
juanchan
I think Havard's Supe has an LPG tank. Either that or one of his cars does. Afraid I can't help you though
RiceRocket
I suppose it's worth it if your mileage is high so that long term you'll be saving money once the inital setup has paid for itself
Havard
I think Havard's Supe has an LPG tank. Either that or one of his cars does. Afraid I can't help you though My Supe has LPG mate but the tank is really small and will only get me about 60 miles..... I will be ripping the system out as it's about as much use as tits on a fish!! The vapouriser is faulty so it won't tickover on gas. I only do 5k miles a year so it's not worth me paying £280 to get it fixed! You are looking at about £1800 for a decent new injection type system. Personally I would be a bit sceptical, LPG was 38p a litre not so long ago, also you have do a decent amount of miles for the system to pay for itself. Economy is about 10% less than petrol, performance is very similar! H.
edge
Or spend grand or two on a car with good economy i.e a smart (not sure how much they cost to buy s/h) But depends if you want it to do long distance in.
Jezz
My V6 L200 is LPG. You can get good conversions for £1250 ish now. My tank is 55 litres, and that gets me 200 miles solo, 160 towing. So £25 ish to fill up. I remember putting LPG in at 34.9p a litre, so its a bit of a fad now its gone up to 60p odd. Still, cheaper than petrol, it does about 8 gallons per mile on petrol! Based upon what you have said, it would certainly be worth getting LPG fitted @ 1250 quid. My Supe has LPG mate but the tank is really small and will only get me about 60 miles..... I think it is looking likely that LPG will go the same way as diesel costs once its popularity get going and the Fourth Reich decide that further taxes can be gained. I may consdier it for my new truck if it doesn't void the warranty
