Liverpool fans attack Hicks son?

The following was taken from http://www.redandwhitekop.com/

"Hick's son was at the Sandon before and got thrown out by our own fans.

We gets to the Sandon for a post match pint after the game and we see half of the bar taken up by your stereotypical american geeky-looking rich old businessmen, about 7 or 8 of them. One appears to be Tom's son. Now thankfully while he was in there, a lot of the people were still in the ground protesting or things could have turned a lot nastier.

People start singing you lying bas&"& get out of our club, some more agressively than others and the yanks started to look a bit uncomfortable but tried to laugh it off. As word spread that these beauts were in the pub people started to push in and as the singing grew louder it got more intimidating before one fella gets right up to fosters face and tells him to get out of our pub.

Long story short they were chased out with everyone laughing after trying to make friends in but I couldn't help feel sorry for tom hicks jr as he looked petrified on his way out and even his bodyguards didnt know what to do. I wouldnt be suprised if he rang his dad tom up and went back to america tonight never to be seen at anfield again"

Storys are now saying he had beer thrown over him and someone may have take a swing.

I dont like what they have done to my club, but this is totaly out of line the papers are going to love this.

So what's your beef about these new owners... they appear to have given you money for transfers and if Benitez has wasted it, that's not their fault?

Is it cos they are scaling down the plans for the new ground?

or... would you behave like this for any owners who weren't Scousers?

I agree they have spent a lot of money and really the fans should be angry at the players and not them.

Main beef is when they took over they promised not to take loans out aganst the club to pay roll it... 100 or so million was put against LFCs assets last week. Add the fact they went public iwith the whole we offered Klinsmann Rafas job dont help matters.

It's exactly what I'd expect. Do you not remember this?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heysel_Stadium_disaster

Ooh, points deducted for a low blow.... It did remind me of that though as it was described as people pushing and crowding into the bar where these Americans were..

Everyone has opinions on how their team should be run but if you don't like the owners, don't buy a season ticket or don't follow the team!

Imagine how the Geordies feel...;)

I dont think i will respond to the Heysel post.

I for one dont have a great many issues with the new owners im not a fan of the burrowing by any means. However both sets of people Rafa and the board acted like children over the whole issue. They have also backed him with hard cash, yet still the fans on the Kop stay behind every home game to protest.

The world's a different place since that tragedy happened, this whole incident is a totally different situation... Don't try and provoke an argument...

There can be no argument. It's a fact. It happened.

The very same people who were involved in that tragedy will now be older (some will be wiser) and most will still be watching Liverpool. People with a similar mentality still frequent the pubs around football grounds (and not just Anfield) and the events described in first post is evidence of that fact.

So, I'm not surprised.:)

Another Liverpool fan:d

Can i ask your take on the whole pub deal?

If it's true then it's out of order. Might have been a tad unwise of Hicks Jr to go into the Sandon of all places as it was asking for trouble, doubt he'd know the history of that pub though to be honest. Still no place for chasing them out etc, footy violence is something that should be erradicated by now but isn't unfortunately :(

Italian fans attack English fans.

English fans retaliate.

Italian fans run and climb over wall of a stadium that was never safe in the first place.

Wall collapses and fans killed.

English fans punished rightly so, Italians weren't as death was enough

Very tough times between 2 sets of fans that has eventually settled now although some Juve fans still hold a grudge as proven 3 years ago

That ok for you now or you got anything else to say?

I know that.

I'm saying that a similar mentality still exists within football.

The events in the first post demonstrate this. Do you disagree??

Of course it exists. Bringing up Heysel to condemn Liverpool fans is out of order though. Heysel at the time was nothing out of the ordinary for a football riot... it's only infamous because of the wall collapsing on the Italians. There's been far worse hooligan elements (Millwall, the Headhunters etc).

Feel free to point out my errors.

You've quoted Wikipedia for one.

Try to find me a team that didn't have an element of hooliganism in at that time...it just so happens it was Liverpool that were at that place at that time at a badly planned event in an unfit stadium.

Bringing that out in response to this story (which is probably exaggerated tenfold by now even it it did happen) is just stupid.

Wikipedia was a bad choice, but the event's not in doubt.

I agree, most clubs had (some still have) an element.

The point (and Kopite has grasped this) is that football hooliganism is still around, albeit to a lesser degree.

So when someone posts a story about it (in a very limited example) and someone responds with I'm surprised (or words to that effect), well, I'm not surprised!!

Maybe I used too strong an example of why I'm not surprised?

Err, who is confusing this episode with violence? If that stupid "I'm one of the lads" Mummys boy decides to have a glass of Bollinger in one of the roughest alehouses in Anfield, then more fool him. This shows the naivety of these Yanks, keep to baseball you fool, would you expect to see the Glazers(?) having a drink in Salford Quays when Utd were in turmoil? Exactly, this is not violence, but fans with tradition running through their veins seeing their life being put onto a balance sheet for some absent plutocrat to plunder. I am an Everton fan, by the way. However, I am a Football Supporter.

i dont get why the fans are pi55ed off with the yanks?? all they have done is give money to the manager, in fact pretty much as much as he has asked for?? yes they should have come out and backed the manager when the media questioned them but for fans to want them out because of that is pathetic.

i would hope that any of the fans involved are banned from the club for life, its discusting but lets face it its not the first time the liverpool fans have covered themselves in shame!!

do you not remember a few seasons ago when alan smith broke his leg and the fans tried to stop the ambulance leaving the ground, now that is discusting :(
