Gooooo Birmingham

Nasty - even though I've no love (to say the least) for Arsenal its sad to see that happen to any footballer.

I have just seen this on MOTD and it's not nice to see. Martin Taylor is not at fault though. Anyone who has played the game knows he was beaten for pace by a very quick player and the guys ankle just snapped. Could have happened in any match to any player IMO.

Hope Eduardo makes a swift recovery!!:(

I didn't think that was a red card offence TBH. Don't like to see it happen but loved the 2 point Arsenal lost.

Theres a bit of me that says shame it wasn't Adebayor but I'll hold back :innocent:

I reckon he'll be fit for the Euro 2008 championships as thankfully there wasn't any ligament damage. (Thats until the sugeon from Birmingham gets to him)

I can't understand why everyone is so forgiving for that idiot, it doesn't happen all the time only when some complete donkey who shouldn't be a defender can't tackle, they say "ah he is not that sort of player" who is? he had an emergency operation and his whole ankle is ripped from the leg, it would have come clean off if his sock and shin pads weren't holding it on. I know Arsenal are not an innocent team and what Eboue did to Terry was a disgrace but this needs to be stamped out, he jumped in leading with the studs with all his body weight leading into the tackle, that's not defending thats plan stupid.

Sorry Robert but I can't agree. I would imagine I would be upset if it would have happened to a Spurs player..!! The whole incident just seems a bit surreal to me.

It's like when Henrik Larsson or Djibril Cisse broke their legs, the contact was made to the elevated foot and it bent sideways.

I had an injury where the ball hit my foot in a similar position and that nearly broke it. You can't blame Martin Taylor for being a slow donkey of a player. Tony Adams wasn't much different!!

I have just had the benefit of seeing this again and also a still of the moment of impact. It does look horrific but I still maintian that it wasn't intentional and he was beaten for pace. I have played in games where the ball was mine to be won and suddenly the ball is gone and you are kicking someones leg....:(

I would hate to be accused of being dirty when you have made an honest mistake. Unfortunately, honest mistakes in football can have some devastating consequences.....

A double compound fracture is not pleasant!!:(

Only problem for me is that is not the correct way to tackle, no matter if you get the ball or not. I think if a professional can't tackle right then he honestly shouldn't be playing, to go into a tackle straight on with your foot that high then you need to be banned for a long time. If Taylor's studs were lower to where the ball actually would be then fair enough he was beaten for pace etc, but his studs were way too high and on that i think the sod should be banned for the rest of the season.

but there are two (thanks H) so you are clearly wrong!:p

Don't get me wrong... I have great sympathy for him or anyone else at the top of their game which will now lead them to enduring a rehabilitaiton programme that will be a monotonous and painful experience. However, compared to the majority of others who rehabilitate through sports injuries or other cause related injuries at least the noise of the £20K per week hitting his wallet will seek to deaden the pain.

Out of all this I think the lesson to be learnt is by the shin pad manufacturers. If the function of them is to spread the impact across their whole which clearly didn't happen in this case then time for a review. Surely they should be more technically advanced nowadays?
