Update:

The Pug got a service yesterday. New oil, oil filter, diesel filter, air filter, new glowplugs, the injectors were cleaned, brakes ( and fluid checked), coolant checked, new intercooler seal, ball joints and other running gear stuff all checked and tightened etc etc. It was pretty thorough and only cost £150.

Best part was though that the verdict was that it was in good condition for it age and mileage. Woot!

It was funny. The guy was asking what he should do if such and such needed doing. I said to go ahead and he was like "I know it's £20 but it'll be worth it!"

Oh how I chuckled.

I did a cam belt & water pump on my old 306 TD yesterday for my mate that bought it off me.

Cam belt £8 and water pump £15!! How cheap eh??

Martin, cam belt is best done more often than it says in the book. I'd say 40 to 50K. Only takes 4 hours or so & water pump is worth doing (every 100k) while its all apart.

Oh well, the honeymoon is officially over.

Poxy thing has had central locking issues of late. The end result is a new loom needed. Not the door loom but the main one! £400 approx plus fitting.

Ended up just having the broken wires taped up so I now have to lock the doors manually and the window won't go up or down.

Bloomin' French electrics.

France is a wonderful country, a cultured and civilised nation. Let the French do what they do best, but for gods sake leave the car building to the Germans and the Japs. :D

Similar story here Martin.

The BMW was a dream to own, didn't spend a penny on it apart from putting petrol in (till some dumb bint killed it).

Bought a Ford and have am now looking at a parts bill similar to the purchase price to fix some random mechanical issues that have come up. It was a very low mileage, FFSH one too :( It's the first and last bleedin' Ford I ever buy! Will be sticking with German or Japanese cars in future.
