flywheel measurments

just took my flywheel(stock TT) of and had a machine shop "turn" it.. when I got it back they have machined it down almost 1 mm on the surface where the clutch disk will be.

anyone that have had any experience with flywheels that are machined down a bit? is 1 mm too much?

it`s a stock flywheel.....

Do not use it! its just going to slip, as its been turned on the friction face only, so the cover plate will have less clamping force as a result, also it must have been pretty bad as you can still see the score marks! and unless its been turned using the front face as datum, it will not be true, have patients and wait for a new one, or you will be making yourself work.

Tha will just be the same as having a worn clutch disk though, won't it? The pressure plate should adjust for the wear (or the pedal travel will be different - not all clutches are self-adjusting).

Anyway, I agree in principle. 1mm is a lot to remove. I'd wait for the new one to arrive.

Yeah, like a worn clutch if he uses a new friction plate, if he puts an old one back well!:( shame to install anew plate and knacker it, also the flywheel turning doesn't look to true to me, and the score marks are still there:blink:
