Massive Rant

Sorry, if anyone thinks this is another waste of space thread but I need to vent this somewhere.

God, I am really hacked off with this Country at the moment. Everyday some other sh*t to make your skin crawl is on the news.

People get murdered every day

Our Youth are (almost) all Yobs who don't care and have no Values and no respect

Council Taxes to rise in April

Fuel to rise in April

Water rates to raise by 10% in April (Bet your bottom $ wages won't be raised by 10%)

British Gas making massive profits while people scrimp to pay their bills

Pint prices to go to £4 quit in the pub (your having a f*ing laff)

Tesco want the Government to raise prices of Alcohol in shops

We get Gordon Brown, who said we wanted him?? Grrrrr.........

Permission to say "F***ing Bo**ox"

No wonder people leave the Country, what's here to stay for?? Before long Pubs won't exist because nobody can afford to drink in them, we ain't allowed to smoke in them. It will be somewhat cheaper to drink at home but if Tesco have their way not by much. Next they be telling us we can't smoke in our homes and we can't drive cars that have more then 1.1 engines.

RANT OVER, thank you :thumbdown::badmood:

:D True tho isn't it, it sux :(

It does indeed. I wonder if you would be saying the same if you lived in France, Germany, Spain, or Greece?

Is this the effect of joining the EU or the effect of a Labour government?

Should we all just up and move to a warmer, bigger country and abandon this fair Island?

This thread raises a lot of questions...

I must admit, listening to the news this morning made me realise that the government attack every problem (binge drinking, "climate change" etc) with the same stick; put prices up to stop people doing things... Shame they are the kind of things that people don't stop doing ;)

The UK has joined the EU ages ago, so it's not that.

I think it's a generalised situation all across Europe. Yob culture, rising prices and multinationals growing bigger and stronger are a fact all across Europe. And trust me things are not better in Greece where I come from. Politics down there are a fiasco, nothing is working the way it should, people don't earn anywhere near as much as we earn here and prices on consummer products and services are identical as here... go find out :(

The problem has been getting steadily worse for a long time though hasn't it? Or is it just me thats thinking it?

So what is the solution then? Communism?

I completely agree with everything you say apart from the youth bit, as I still class myself as a youth(well until my b'day anyway) and none of my freinds are like that I think it's just you only hear about the bad and never the good so it sounds like the bad out weigh the good, which is the same for most things actually.

lol seems like alcohol plays a big part in your life ;).

Not really mate but yeah I like a few at the weekend. The point I am making with that is that it seems we are not supposed to get any enjoyment out of life anymore at all.

Don't eat junk, don't drink to much, don't smoke just work, work, work so you can pay your bills.

£4.99 for a one way ticket to somewhere else, perhaps you'll all be happier there?

Reliable as always Michael thank you.

I tried living somewhere else as I was born in Germany and have only been here 11 years. Thing is it's even worse in Germany since they have taken on the Euro. In my hometown more shops and businesses are now closed then open. :(

I know mate, hence why I said (almost) all youths. There are the exeptions as always. ;)

Just to add to the misery..

News item.

Shop owner runs to his car with the takings, is being attacked by someone with a knife.

Gets to car, car window broken by thug and shop owner is stabbed three times. Somehow the shop owner gets out the car and in the ensuing struggle the thug gets the knife he's carrying shoved into him. Fatally.

Shop owner arrested for murder. :taped:

Makes you sick how the law is starting to work. It always seems to take the side of the criminal.

I suspect they might be trying to irradiate any correlation between these points.

Who wants to buy cheap cider anyway?

I just don't see the point in moaning about it, you either start some kind of political movement / join and existing one and try to sort it out to suit the majority or you get out of Dodge and find a country you are happy in. Clearly the UK isn't for you but thanks for giving it a go for 11 years.

So the UK is better than where you came from but it's still not good enough... time for the next upgrade perhaps?

We have threads like this every few months, but nobody has any real answers to the problems.

We as Brittish are great at moaning but when it comes to an interruption to our own lives we aren't prepared to sacrifice. Look at the fuel protests, they went on all of a week.

People started to moan about not being able to get to work etc the bigger picture is very rarely looked at :(.

Britain is weak and the government and big business know it ;)

The only way to get a change is to hurt big business as they have the sway at government level.

Look at the movie industry complaining about P2P and then suddenly the government has a policy for dealing with it

And they never actually seem to contain anything that relates to personal experience. I mean, I could understand it if people's kids weren't able to go to school, doctors weren't available etc etc, some countries have it a lot lot worse.

Yes, there is problems with the culture of society in some parts, but generally this isn't a really bad place to live.

There are many beautiful things about it, and many beautiful places to go and see. I'm sure there are lots of 'holiday' destinations that seem better when you're there on a holiday. Living there is a completely different story.

Like Michael said though, if things are difficult for you, or you feel like you could make a difference, join a political debate or try a campaign or two.
