HKS S-SQV BOv

Guys,

I bought the SSQV from Justin at the weekend, I got round to fitting it yesterday, and it sounds the badgers balls!

Anyway, I noticed when taking the car out for a run, (to make sure all was ok!) that it appears to have increased my boost quite considerably!

I normally have my boost controller on 50% which runs about 1.0/1.1bar. While I was blasting it down the road, my limiter started beeping. I have this set at 1.3bar! I turned it down to 40% boost and it was peaking at around 1.2bar. I lowered it to 30% and its now reading about 1.0bar.

I couldn't believe that this new bov would have made such a difference! What do you guys think? and how can I work out a safe pressure to run my turbos at?

cheers

Terry, this is a reply from Justin F about the bov, may explain the problem you found!

Glad you like the dump valve, glad it arrived on time, this is the sort of

service you should normally receive from me.

The bolt at the back of the SQV is for fine tuning the spring strength.

On cars with MAF sensors (like UK supras), it is possible for the car to

stall

if the spring strength isnt enough (to increase wind the bolt in).

loosening the bolt, should increase dump valve volume and response, too lose

and

you may have stalling problems or (I think) it may leak boost pressure.

Try unwinding the bolt a little and see what the results are.

If only!

The bolt had to be closed completely to stop the thing leaking. I am on an anti HKS trip at the moment as I currently have faulty:

HKS SS BOV

HKS Cam Gear ( Teeth wore down & destroyed the belt)

HKS GT Wastegate ( The thing turned up with a hole in the diaphragm!)
