hoff
What is it with people who drive in dense fog with no lights on? It really gets my goat. This morning visabilty was 7 metres at best and people were driving with no lights. The mojority were silver or white cars which makes it worse. Surely they must realise the dangers. The road I was on has 3 at best nasty junctions (and thats when its clear. Somebody pulling out of one would have no chance of seeing a car without lights on in the fog. Why do people do it? Surely if they were involved in an accident they would be at fault. Does this annoy anyone else or is it just me?
MrRalphMan
Not just you, but I was getting upset at the other end of the spectrum... Dense fog, everyone bunched up on the A13 going 5mph. everyone with their fogs on... I can see you...
Charlotte
It irritates me beyond belief when people leave them on and there's no fog.

Animal
Yep, people are stupid. The current trend I've noticed is to drive around at dusk/night with sidelights & front fog lights on instead of dip beam. Tossers.
tbourner
Mainly it's because people don't understand the differences between dipped headlights and sidelights, so when they're told that they shouldn't have their main beam on in fog "Cos it reflects" it confuses a lot of people and they think they're correct in leaving their lights off. People are dumb.

AlexM
Same goes for people who drive around with full beams on and never dip. I nearly got run off the road a few days back by a pratt in a 4x4 with full beams on (relatively narrow country road as well) . Quite a few people around this morning in thick fog with no lights on at all, some seem to click after you dip/full beam a few times in their mirror and turn them on.. Silver BMW driver I was behind this morning just didn't seem to get the idea.

hoff
Tell you what though. Ive just been out in the fog again. Its the worst Ive ever been out in. And the first time since fitting 6k HIDs in my dipped beam. The HIDs made life very hard, visability was 4 or 5 foot:scared:
BASHTHEBISHOP
all those sorts of bad driving things annoy me... wrong lights or no lights no indication at roundabouts or junctions wrong indication trying to queue jump coming up m'way slip roads & they dont accelerate to more than 40mph coming up to m'way exit & they stay in outside lane to last second then swerve across all the traffic sitting in the middle lane or outside lane when not overtaking parking on juntions making it dangerous to pull out jumping traffic lights at busy & fast roundabouts & junctions parking on yellow hatches stopping you reaching your exit grrrr it goes on & on & i bet most of the above i see driving around bristol everyday
jevansio
Must admit I drove home this aftenoon without any lights, it was light but foggy (my auto lights usually turn on when it gets dark so I never bother with lights anymore), 2 cars flashed me, I thought the road ahead was closed with a crash or something before I realised
Sted
People allways seem to leave their rear fog lights on for day's after it has been foggy . It's so annoying!!!
Pixelfill
I'm with you Adam, it really *really* irritates me, along with people who have their fog lights on when it isn't foggy. But the ultimate, the most heinous of driving crimes (well perhaps not) the old "It's raining, so I'll put my fog lights on!" Mike

It's a bad thing, IMO. We've just had a a local guy sent down for a year after he steamed into the back of a stationary vehicle on the A167, killing the child in the rear seat. Throughout the case he maintained it wasn't his fault as the windsreen smeared as he used the wipers and he didn't see the car. (Not saying you're as bad as him, but using the case as an example of people giving up responsibility, in your case forced upon you by new tech)
Tom
Yup, people are idiots generally People suck So, we've established that people are generally stupid? and yep saw, well barely saw, a guy riding a moped, no lights last night in the fog! I couldn't see anything but my lights reflecting off the fog at one point.
RiceRocket
2 cars flashed me, I thought the road ahead was closed with a crash or something before I realised I've had other drivers flash me to warn that cops are ahead 'observing' the traffic

The other one I will add to the list, although I will admit to have been tempted (But never done), is for when you have 2 lanes on a slip road joining a motorway (Eg the M4 end of the M32, and the M32/M4 West slip roads), and one lane comes on first, then the other a bit later on, but with big hatchings on the road, and people cut across them... There's perfectly clear signs to show how the road works, so the drivers are bang out of order...
Pot
I've had other drivers flash me to warn that cops are ahead 'observing' the traffic It's common practise - (As you know by knowing what the flashes are on about) - I think the drivers flashing him in his instance were on about his lights, but your post has reminded me about the 'Police Observation' warning... It's helped me out a few times
Suprash
I've had other drivers flash me to warn that cops are ahead 'observing' the traffic People dont seem to do this as much anymore, but the other day I was flashing a whole queue of traffic as it went past to warn them there was a copper around the corner, that after the odd flash back in finger waving at me...... Just like the woman going round the roundabout with a flat rear tyre, so gets along side her, beeped my horn and then while mouthing you have a flat tyre (not that this really helps) pointed at the floor, she obviously thought I was trying to hurl abuse at her, gave me some hand gestures and mouthed something back at me, at which point I gave up and thought sod it she can drive home with a flat..... Jake
Well I've just driven 50miles in the fog and to me the cars with rear fog lights on were much more of a problem than the ones without. I find the glare from foglights really unpleasant. As long as I drive at a speed that I can stop OK in the distance I can see then I don't need people to have their fogs on. MrRalphMan
Totally agree, but one whiff of fog anf both front/rear's come on even if they are drivin down the high street.... Knob ends the lot of em....
