tbourner
Caught the missus cold, still at work today though. Got woken up by it at 3 this morning, had shallow breathing couldn't seem to breath very easily, went away this morning, she had the same a few days ago. Now I've got a metallic taste in my mouth, is that bad? Google suggests it could be damage to my chorda tympani ( ), resulting in de-inhibiting the taste buds at the rear of my mouth!!! Other results say it might be early onset of epilepsy - nice. I don't tend to listen to self diagnosis though, just interesting to read up. razza
give yourself a good series of dousing: Fill a bucket with water, leave it out overnight, in the morning go out, stand on the grass bare foot, wearing your best swimming trunks (obviously want to look good), and slowly poor it over your head, remembering to breathe slowly out through your mouth as you do so. Wait for your temp to get back to normal and then dry yourself off with a towel, but not vigorously (pat yourself dry). Repeat every morning, if you have the cold, repeat it several times a day. This raises your core temp by a couple of degrees instantly, helping kill any sick cells you have in you. Just like splashing your face, but to your whole body:d If you don't want your neighbours to think you're a weirdo you can always do a cheat way (not as effective mind) and at the end of a shower whack it on the coldest setting for a minute/30 secs. Best cure for a cold imo, Russian health practices, bizzare, but actually work;)

tbourner
I wouldn't take a day off for a cold either, it's the nearly fainting and feeling sick that's the concern!! I have found out lots of interesting facts about taste buds now though!! http://en.allexperts.com/q/Medical-Research-Internet-1426/METALLIC-TASTE-MOUTH.htm Just wondering if anyone knew anything or had experienced this metallic taste, really making me feel queasy. Charlotte
My dad is currently having radiation treatment. He has a permanent metallic taste in his mouth. Shame about yours, I'm sure man-flu only lasts for a few days.
tbourner
Yeah that was one cause I stumbled upon, pretty sure that's not what's causing mine though. Sorry about your dad, what's he got if you don't mind me asking?

Charlotte
Sorry about your dad, what's he got if you don't mind me asking? He has hodgkins Disease (cancer of the lymphatic cells). Scary being that his dad and aunty died of it, although I think medical advances are better these days. Oddly they only found out he had it because they thought he had an allergy/chest infection. tbourner
He has hodgkins Disease. Better (?) than non-hodgkins though. I'm one of those horrible people who refuses to give to charity, but I always give to cancer research and the local hospice. the gf worked in oncology for 3 years, I've heard some horrible things from her god knows what things she's seen in there.
