Oh FFS...don't worry...

It was just some friendly advice. Won't bother in future. The MAP2 ECU is wholly lacking in features and ability IMO...

what's it lacking?

Alex, no point in arguing really....:)

Why not? Is it that cut and dry that the MAP2 is rubbish?

It's one thing to put forward a reasoned point giving specific information as to why a particular product may be unsuitable but beginning your arguement by saying it doesn't do ignition timing when it actually has "full Timing advance and retard control of up to eight channels for Distributor, Group Fire or Coil On Plug configurations using a 20 x 19 (380 zone) table" just makes you look silly ;)

But Alex is right regarding the mapper - for me the MAP2 seems to tick all the right boxes but I can't seem to find anyone with the experience to map it. Not a failing of the ECU in my opinion.

It looks like a neat little ECU and it really can't be that hard to shove it in and have a go at mapping it yourself surely, the website gives you everything you need :D

Give it loads of fuel, wind back the advance and give it little boost and then work it out from there........ You could even get a base map to start you off.

You'll need to know certain information for the car first like the perfect AFR (stoichiometric figure) etc but it's worth a laugh if you have the time :D

you would also need to buy some extra stuff like Wide band Sensor, Det Cans or some form of knock detection (all of these can cost as much as paying someone to map for you)

Personally I would love to do this to my next car, and probably will but there is no point in trying to map my litle N/A run around :(

Nooo. didn't mean it that way... I'm sure the MAP2 unit is excellent at what it is supposed to do

It was the fact that finding a mapper and letting him assist in the choice of ECU is the way forward (from experience)..
