tbourner
Mate's old Passat seems to be losing power, he said he's looked around the turbo and there's a rod (VSV?) that's completely solid, won't move. Would this have an exhaust wastegate as well as a pressure dump valve? Could it be the exhaust wastegate VSV siezed open so most of the exhaust gas is going straight out rather than spinning the turbo? Or something else? Looking at the Supra sequential diagram didn't help!!
4packet
Depends what age the Passat is. Most modern turbo's are VGT and use this to control their boost. It isn't unheard of for the vains to fail and seize like you describe. Should flag a DTC which the dealer can diagnose. Martin
tbourner
It's an oldish one, about a P plate I think, probably not got a VGT.
