tbourner
Does anyone know the RPM that turbos spin at? for example stock j-specs up to about 1.2bar? Heard somewhere that it can be up to 100,000 RPM!!! Just for pub talk really.
Soonto_HAS_soop
I heard 120,000 rpm, but I have no proof to back that up with.
Alex
Different turbo's spin at different speeds. 130,000+ rpm has been used....but 100,000rpm is more usual.
merckx
100,000rpm is almost 1700 revolutions per second!
tbourner
I know thats why I asked I was a bit shocked I assumed (for some reason) it was like 20k or something. I heard superchargers only get up to about 40k in comparison, but then I suppose they're attached to the crank though. Makes you think just how important good clean oil is for the bearings, and why you shouldn't floor it too soon after starting up because the oil pressure won't be high enough.
